What does it mean to be in Christ? How does a person know if they are in Christ? Do you believe you are in Christ?

You missed "sometimes". I think it means that what you are doing is what He wants you to do in the situation, doing it as he would do it. "Christ" is the Greek, "Messiah" the Hebrew; the English is "anointing". The question thus is are we doing it by the anointing (empowering) He earned for us?

Acts 24:24(KJV)

24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

What did Paul teach regarding faith in Christ?
Acts 24:25 (KJV)

25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

For when we in faith, recieve Jesus and say, Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh.
We die with Jesus to flesh, He sends His spirit to live in us, so I now live in Jesus through His spirit.
Flesh is now simply the temple in which His spirit resides and we live in His spirit.

Romans:
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The law of the spirit of life in Jesus, has freed you from sin and death.

It is in faith, hope and love that I live in Jesus,

in faith, believing in His sacrifice, promise, not by what is seen, but faith in what is unseen, alive in Jesus's spirit, trusting all to Him.

in hope, for what is not seen, for what is hope if one sees what they hope for, also trusting that Jesus will keep me in His hand, guiding me in all that is the rightousness and will of God Our Father.

In love, seeking His face always, obedient to God Our Father because I love him, and my hearts desire is to be all He asks of me, loving Him, my neighbor as myself, because God is Love!

In Jesus, God bless

John 14:14 KJV
(14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Does this mean we only have to pray the words in Jesus name?

Scripture says, although I cannot remember book and chapter,

Set your requests in Jesus's name before God with praise and thanksgiving!

God bless :)

This tells me I am NOT YET IN CHRIST, God has to perfect His love in me FIRST. Perfect love does not fear and does not sin. It makes you as God is.... IN THIS WORLD!
Two verses... 1 John 2:5.... But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 4:17... Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

I wanted to add, when we do this with praise and thanksgiving, we need to trust all to God Our Father.
That means knowing in faith and humility, that even though we may not get exactly what we asked for, that God will provide always what we need. :)

God bless

Hello Laodicea,

My poll vote, "are you 'In Christ', was yes. What does it mean to be in Christ? I would have to say it begins with, my sins are forgiven. And then I am adopted into God's family and now I have become a child of God and a citizen of His kingdom. I am no longer a foreigner but a citizen and member of God's household. (Ephesians2:19)

How do I know that I am in Christ? The Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am God's child. (Romans8:15) And my life has changed some tell me for the better.

Do I believe I am in Christ? Yes! I am new here and I thank you for letting me share.

In Christ,

Paul :)

Notice what Paul taught concerning faith in Christ.
1. Righteousness
2. Temperance
3.Judgement to come

Romans 3:22 KJV
(22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV
(22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
(23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
1 Corinthians 9:25 KJV
(25) And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
G1467
ἐγκρατεύομαι
egkrateuomai
eng-krat-yoo'-om-ahee
Middle voice from G1468; to exercise self restraint (in diet and chastity): - can([-not]) contain, be temperate.

Psalms 9:8 KJV
(8) And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
Acts 17:31 KJV
(31) Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Revelation 14:7 KJV
(7) Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

what does the scripture say Lao?:)

Colossians 2
9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.

13And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authoritiesb and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

The 7 feasts point to Christ. In Christ the ceremonial laws are fulfilled and Paul often said they do not need to keep the ceremonial laws

The feasts do not tell us anything about knowing whether or not we are in Christ but, I want to explore all things about what 'In Christ' is.

I want to explore all things about what 'In Christ' is.

Gal 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A person no longer walking after the flesh, but walking in the Spirit. Becoming the new creature, walking in the Spirit producing good fruit.

Gal 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Those producing good fruit, having crucified the lusts and affections of the flesh are Christ’s and “in Christ.”

That is true that if we are in Christ it will produce fruit.
Romans 6:22 KJV
(22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

If we are servants of God the fruit will be holiness and the list you have shown shows what it means to be holy

Romans 3:23-25 KJV
(23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
(24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
(25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To have redemption we have to choose to be in Christ, to walk in Christ daily. We can be in Christ but if we are not daily walking in Christ how can we continue to have redemption?
John 8:12 KJV
(12) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The three sets of feasts show us Christ. They represent the three steps (or stations or callings) of the Christian walk. The first step is Passover, representing Salvation. The second step is Pentecost, representing the in-filling of the Holy Breath (Holy Ghost). The third step is Tabernacles representing Sonship – being transformed into the image of the Son of God.

Another way to look at these feasts is in our relationship with Christ. The first step, Passover/Salvation, is to become a part of the Body of Christ, the church. The second step, Pentecost/Breath, is to become a part of the Bride of Christ (when Adam needed a bride, God formed one out of his body). Not all who join the body/church will become a part of the Bride. This is a personal choice we make about how close we wish to come in our relationship with the Messiah. The third step is sonship/Tabernacles. Jesus was born sometime during the Feast of Tabernacles (which is why there was no room at the inn). The bride comes out of the body and the son comes out of the bride.

The Jews only knew the first two steps. They were in covenant with God (His body) and they were inspired by the infilling of the Holy Breath (Ruach Quodesh) but they could not understand the third step until the coming of the Son, Meshiach.

David sang: “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” David understood the first two steps.

Paul uses the words, Called, Sanctified and Glorified – the three steps in the Christian’s earthly walk. Some are Called and join the church, the Body of Christ. Some in the church are Sanctified and come out of the church to be part of the bride, but still a part of the body. Some feel the calling and are Glorified, become transformed into the image of the Son. Paul confessed that he was still striving to the prize of the High Calling – Glorified.

Jesus says “Ask and it shall be given you, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened to you”, three steps, three feasts. God speaks to us dumb humans in parables and pictures and riddles. All we can do is be open to His calling.
