Ah, the age old question.... who gets to do the censoring?
Sadly Willy...there will never be much censoring so long as some people pay money for filthy things.

The internet in and of it's self is not evil.....just like the TV is not evil one is an information highway and the other is a piece of equipment that comes with televised programing.....It is when the USER turns them on and the USER is the one making the CHOICES of what to READ or WATCH....so it is ultimately the USER who is EVIL....

Blond logic strikes once again.....lol

I'm volunteering, Sir, and let me make it clear, no foul language will be allowed, nor will any hate statements be given space and folks from places I downright dislike will no longer be allowed access to the Internet:p

Well you can legislate against rape and child abuse so you can legislate to keep stuff like that off the internet. We have censorship of TV and film but not enough.
Now you are in my backyard. I can tell you, unequivocally, that you cannot legislate against either rape or child molesting. All you can do is pass punitive laws that apply after the fact of the crime.

If the Internet is a problem for someone, jesus commands them to cut off their hands and gouge their eyes out....not neccessarily in that order...
Preach brother preach.....can I get a witness.. or an Amen......

Little drastic don't you think.....maybe they just should not turn it on....???

I believe they are thinking about incorporating other in home spy devices and a massive drone army, no?

Or did I just put on a tinfoil hat for a moment?

I use the internet for helping people, studying the Bible, and witnessing to the glory of God.

In excellent tool to use for the Kingdom of God!

The internet has as much potential for good as for evil. Any thing in God's creation can be enjoyed in a wholesome way with thanksgiving; or perverted to something evil and ugly. If you use the internet to honor God; as many of us do on Christian Chat and elsewhere; there is no evil in it. If you use the pages of a Bible to burn down your neighbors house; the Bible has not become evil by your evil act.

I'm wearing my tin foil hat right now. I'm picking up some strange frequencies and the big toe of my right foot is starting to vibrate.

I just think it would be an interesting spectacle for a person to cut off both of their hands by themselves....much less gouge out their eyes with no hands.....or opposable thumbs for that matter.

no worries. the GOd of Israel, the Creator of all life, He does not bless the countries on earth who commit such ongoing and grievous sin against Him and against His People.

Yahshua the Messiah King Savior will return soon and execute His Vengeance without mercy against all the
nations that have gathered against Him and have been putting to death His People.

who or what gave the image of the beast the power to speak ? no one on earth will escape God's Justice.

Surprisingly nowadays Christians have no issues with the evils that can be found on the Internet, e.g., pornography! As they say: “Nothing to be scandalized, this is the real world”!

Who are ashamed! Not the Christians! Even less the governments!

Who would be accountable for all these Evils on the day of the Lord?

How could the God of Israel bless our countries when Evil is now an integral part of our culture!

The LOVE OF MONEY is the root to all evil, NOT the internet.. while there are plenty of sinful things on the internet, such as porn, the internet itself is NOT the root of all evil. Though it certainly doesn't help any.. :/
I will second, third and fourth this one for sure......!

The internet is a giant sandbox. So, for example, christianchat is uplifting and exciting to me. Your experience is going to be what you make of it. Sometimes you seek out sin that is bad for you, sometimes through no fault of your own, you stumble upon things (well, at that point, its just temptation, just close it, click away from it, etc and that is God giving you the strength to resist).

I did know one Christian who thought a lot of the technology we had today was the result of forbidden knowledge. What can I really say to that? You're still using a smart phone even as you denounce it.

ho hum ho hum

For me...accountability is key for safe Internet browsing. I let my wife see my browsing history plus I have a filter on our router plus I have covenant eyes installed on my computers.

Well you can legislate against rape and child abuse so you can legislate to keep stuff like that off the internet. We have censorship of TV and film but not enough.
1. The things you mentioned are ALREADY illegal on the internet in certain forms and contexts... because those things fall under other existing laws.

2. Please be aware that many countries already have criminal laws against "hate speech", and if you query many liberals in the Western World, they'll tell you the BIBLE QUALIFIES AS HATE SPEECH, AND SHOULD BE CENSORED.

We must be extremely careful about protecting freedom of speech and freedom of expression, or we'll get censorship laws all turned back upon us.

How could this happen?
Here's a rudimentary example.
Some nice Christians may want a law that will only censor internet "bullying", but an atheist politician may craft the language of that law in a vague way so that preaching the Bible on the internet could be defined as "bullying", and therefore bible preaching might be censored.

This is how the lost world thinks, and this is how things are done in the real world.

It's safest to have less legislation, and just learn to censor ourselves, and censor our own families.
