I liked the original concept of this post, I have done a lot of thinking about it. I have raised my family, they all work in the church, no divorces, all do fine work in the world, but there is absolutely no love, now, for the extended family. Now that I am almost blind and can't hear, I am considered not worth spending any time at all with.
Many years ago one had a wedding and didn't invite young children, and a 12 year old sat on her 14 year old cousin's lap 40 years ago, and "that" person left the Lutheran Church and went to a Baptist church, and "that" person holds his fork incorrectly. All judged unforgiveable behaviors. God tells us that He will take care of what people do, He will repay and we aren't supposed to take over that function from God. This family can sit on church councils but they also must act as the judge for the world and especially judge anyone who dares be in their family.
The church family simply doesn't get close enough to each other to judge this closely.

And so we go from discussing love one another, and build each other up, to deciding if Sirk is guilty of something or not and if we should take his side against something! It is OK, Sirk. You are God's child, loved of God and Hitler is beside the point. No person is pointing fingers at you, and if anyone is they are out of line. That's what this thread is about.

Well I thought it was weird. My commentary was only addressing average ordinary peoples ability to either look the other way or full participate in whatever atrocity....I was simply stating that mankind is not basically good (total depravity) and then this went to some weird "night monster" place. That is all. The op posed the question of whether or not man is evil or good. I answered it with best example from history that I know.....that left to our own devices in the right circumstance, each one of us is capable of participating in unspeakable horror. What would you do if your livelihood and your position in society depended on it?

I think Sirk has something we should all think about. Hitler didn't personally kill that many people, it was the SS troops that did the killing and they were hundreds of everyday people.
Some psychiatrist did a test of people at a hospital in the US. They hired people to be subjects, and gave orders have cruel things done to these people. They wanted to test to see how far people would go if authorities asked them to perform things that they should have morally objected to. Most people did cruel things to others without objecting.
Personally, I have experienced extreme cruelty done to me, mostly by my family. I have watched cruelty done to others on CC. I have even had people tell me they felt I was cruel, and my Lord and Savior knows I want to be cruel to no one.
I think we all should be aware of the possibility we are cruel, and work hard to be supportive and loving toward others.

Wow, I am very sure that most of us blood bought would not be able to recognize an Angel if we bumped into one on the street, or better yet, would recognize a demon for that matter, it would come and bite us in the be-hind before all the alarms went off in our heads. Forgive me brothers and sisters, but most of us are blind to the super natural in this world, we pray not about wisdom of the world we live in, you know, open our eyes and ears to those searching and or thirsty for the Word of God. We might be a little more attentive if we would be in church then, or? Not even sure about that, we have the Spirit of the living God sealed within us, but we don't have the power, or better yet, allow the power of God to channel through us and be used for the Honor and Glory of God.
What am I trying to say is this, let us not worry about the things of this world that are out to kill us but worry about those that are dyeing because no one told them the Gospel story. We have the free bread that we received from some soul that was Spirit powered, but while we dilly and dally about such unimportant things, the free bread gets stale and dried-out, useless, remember the bible speaks about the salt, we are the salt of this world, and if we don't "salt" the world with God's precepts and the Gospel, the salt becomes useless, please let us remember this: one day we all will stand before Him that has fire in His eyes, and we will be reviewed about what we did and how we did it, I mean in what Spirit did we do it, did we just do it to give them a warm fuzzy feeling? Or did we lead them to the throne of grace? Because we will be judged just on that factor, and why that, because at the throne of grace their lives could have been changed. And we because of our me, myself and I attitudes denied people that which we have received. We will not get over on Him. Be blessed people and spread the bread among the dead! And if thy don't take and taste and see that the Lord is good, their blood is on their own hands and not ours! That is why we have the Power of the living God within us, to spread the Word of God, and that is judicial in its-self, life to life to those that believe, and death to death to those that refuse. It is so very simple, praise God for salvation!

ahaha that a very interesting concept,, but the bible say do not give what is holy to dogs as if you give the enemy a foothold he will truly trample you under foot,.. but correct we must plant the seed but this is the internet,, and i don't know if all you people here are bots or whats. so with that said im leaving i can not take this rubbish any more,, so from now on your all free to dictate and hate,, just like hitler,, Good bye have a nice life,

I don't think the decision about if psychiatrist should or should not explore people is part of what we are talking about, it would get WAY off subject. We are talking about people and if they are capable of doing evil to others. It isn't Satan or the Lord out there in the world, but in man's actions. I even see some of these posts as having a lack of actions that are the result of care and love of others. Can we focus on the best in people or is there something in us that acts as a judge of people? I think most people, in fact, have the capacity of meanness in them, and they justify themselves, telling themselves how right they are.
It wasn't the devil who did the killing Hitler asked for, it was the people who listened to Hitler instead of to the Lord, just as Hitler was listening to the devil instead of the Lord. Those people who killed were proud of the patriotism they had, of helping to rid the world of those "awful Jews."
The people who are cruel in their attacks on cc are proud of how attacking other Christians who are judged not correct is what they say. It isn't in helping others know the Lord that motivates them, it is getting rid of those "awful people".

This is all truth and very poetic, spoken in the language of the spirit. But we need to put it into the language of doing that you and I use every day, too. In order to show the gospel story we need to show love and kindness. Instead of "lead them to the throne of grace" which is the truth, I agree, but if someone is posting on cc or living down the street from you, then you must translate this into how to. "Spread the word among the dead" is truth and right, but we need to look at the words we use to those we are talking to in a practical way. Being unloving and cruel is not doing that.
you must think i am soft so far i have got 6 new members on my ignore list and now another two who have all attacked me with in so many posts of joining including you and since i have no longer been answering you and them.. i now have other new members like you looking to stick the knife in and bring me down,, and then play little mr little innocent,, sneaky very sneaky and sly..
right which was my main point now do you think that man alone could do the monstrosities that he did ,, i have seen evil in people eyes. i know what it is plainly only one thing and that is hate which is a breeding ground for satan..

look it is plain and simple people who attack people are not christian. this is where the problem lies in cc chat,, many people get attacked by people who claim to be christian,, this gives Christianity a bad name. now what happens is this many so called christian will get you to lose your temper and then they say your not a christian..
the problem is that thees people are not born of god but born of satan..
