Funny though ... I wasn't wrong ... two hammers so far ... after "the sword"

First you intimate that we are lesbians
Then you intimate that we are mindless

James 3

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
I didn't say those things..but I hope they are not true :)

I don't quite understand the dynamic that's working here, but I believe Mit was just replying to a post that is another in a growing line of rather odd threads by the OP.
It appeared, even to me, to be a thread that was started because of a couple of other threads about fasting, except the question was borderline silly.... much like some of the other OP's thread topics.

And I don't think Mit looks all that mean in his pic..... I used to look a lot meaner than that... back when I had hair. Now I just look old and harmless...

I don't know. Following logic, If you fast cutting food and drink out and commit yourself to that kind of fast to God and eat and drink something, then, yes. But I believe that this is one of those things that is between you and God. However, even if this was breaking the fast, you could always start again.

Im doing a water and porridge only fast, but i took the holy communion bread and the juice in the shot glass, was that breaking the fast?
From a physical standpoint your not breaking it because your doing a fast with porridge. So your already eating. If you were doing only water, maybe then you would be breaking it. I don't know enough to state a definite yes or not. If you were eating quantities of wafers you would be breaking it, but one wafer, probably not.
From a spiritual standpoint, you are definitely not breaking the fast. Even if you were fasting on just water, you would not be. Keep your mind and heart focused on God during your fast, He will guide you.

C'mon, Ember, there are some things almost no one needs to ask.
except when you're just saved and have no clue
I remember when I was just saved they had this talk after the sermon about women that had to obey their husbands and wearing hats for women in church. Well I thought: okay if the Bible says that, explain please.
All they did was giggle stupidly, so I thought: oh okay, well then I assume you don't have to wear a hat and don't have to obey. Okay thanks.

That is being way too legalistic. You have not broken your fast to take communion in remembrance of what the Lord did for you.

If you think about it, praying and fasting is communing with Jesus Christ. The physical act cannot have more meaning aside for doing so in obedience.

great that you're focused on doing these things, but remember it's about the relationship, not the rules. you can take communion or not take communion.

Sometimes I ask God whether I should do A or B and God says 'don't worry' as in, it doesn't matter which one I do, I just make a decision and God will work with it. Now sometimes God does say something about A or B but often God is just saying 'don't worry' because it's the enemy trying to make me worry about A or B and God is fine with either.

Maybe you're right. He's just 16, and has only been doing this for a few months, so I guess he needs to be cut a little slack. I'll try to do better.

I guess the Spiritual maturity level of some of the other 16 year-olds here has spoiled me, and I expect too much.

well that was my thought all along

I don't see his age on his profile, but I would like to know why someone thinks it is ok to slap someone broadside with what they think is their vast knowledge and everyone elses' stupidity

I don't mean you willie

then he goes on making inane comments to myself and psalmist..

how is any of that ok?

Come on people what seems trivial to some means a lot to others. My wife is a example of that. She heard the last of a teaching on the radio that said that birds represented evil in the bible. She went crazy saying what about the dove as the holy spirit ....eagles wings in the psalms....the 2birds in Noah story...on and on...she was beside her self for two weeks. Then by God's hand (I believe) the teaching aired again this time from start to finish she heard it and the teacher was talking about the birds in the parables being evil...what a smile on my brides face when she told me what she heard.

Isn't fasting going without something for a period of time? Could be food, water or something else that we enjoy doing for a spiritual reason and let's say it's a no food or drink fast and if we take communion then that fast is broken because we have taken bread or that wafer (the body of Christ) and drink(the wine or grape juice =the blood of Christ) into our bodies. Common sense goes a long way sometimes. Truthfully I started not to post on this because you guys seem sort of umm...sarcastic or maybe the one guy called mitspa seems umm..mean as a bucket of diamond back rattler snakes. But anyway I stand by my comment. Yes taking communion is breaking a no food and drink fast. And I'm not judging anyone it's just the vibe I got from reading how you all interacted.

I don't know anything about your 'vibes'....but in no way is taking communion breaking a fast

How could remembering Christ's death, which He specifically told us to remember until He comes back, possibly be breaking a fast? We don't fast from Christ...you are not EATING communion...that tiny bit of bread or cracker and sip of juice or wine does not constitute a meal or chowing down

I would have to agree that is a legalistic attitude...no offence

However, as far as the op goes, seems he was simply asking a question and got jumped on for doing so...which was not a good thing
