The copies of John's Apocalypse that we have today are accurate...

Due to the extreme amount of literary devices in the book...it's obvious that the substance of what is written there was to be known, but not understood. Otherwise it would have been stated plainly.
However, there is, was, and will be a small fragment of the population who will understand what is written.
But because God has obviously chosen to not reveal the future plainly to all of mankind why should Christians desire to make it plain to everyone? Ergo: go against what God has desired?
thanks for the reply, but this is why the book is called "REVELATION", a revealing, for us to know.. hence why we have the REVELATOR in us.

That's what the word Apocalypse means. And it did reveal the future...just not to everyone.

Who did Jesus reveal things plainly to?
Why did he preach in this fashion if no one at all understood him? (Omnipotence means all energy expenditure is perfectly efficient with no unintentional side effects)
Probably a few did understand...but it certainly wasn't a specific group.

So....
Logical question is: Are you a Pharisee or an Apostle? Or one of the multitude in search of another free meal ?

First thanks for the reply, second, true all thing are not reveal to all, but understand, this is why the Church should never forsake to come together. if one get a revelation, then it can be told to all, and if another have a revelation, then we as the body together know more that we did apart. 1 Corinthians 14:26 "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying." BINGO. One maight want to Read this chapter 14.

so as with his apostles, what he gave Peter, he didn't give Paul, or what he gave Paul , not James, but when one read all the Letter one know more as the whole instead of just ONE LETTER alone. see when we put Paul, Peter, and Jame letters together we know better that if we had just James letter only.

for where two or three are gathered in my name I'll be in the mist. and the Holy Ghost is the REVELATOR. and the scripture is TRUE, "We have not because we ask NOT".

so if we come together, we can know.

thanks for the post.

be blessed.

PS, nope, I'm neither a Pharisee or an Apostle? and I'm very full with God's word... thanks for asking.

Revelation 5:12 “Worthy is the Lamb, who was SLAIN, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and HONOR and GLORY and blessing!”
Revelation 5:9 “Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, BECAUSE You were slain..."

2Peter 1:16 "For we did not follow cleverly devised FABLES when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received HONOR and GLORY from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." And we ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain..." ..AT HIS BAPTISM
You're a little mixed up, I think...

Consider the following passage:

Matthew 17 -
The Transfiguration

(Mark 9:1-13; Luke 9:28-36; 2 Peter 1:16-21)

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

[this was a snapshot of His Second Coming glory (i.e. their 'catching-a-glimpse' of it, beforehand); the text calls it a "vision" in v.9]

Jesus' "baptism" took place well before the above-mentioned "Transfiguration" setting/context.

Is "the Jordan River" at the place where He was baptized located up on a mountain?

This proves it beyond any doubt. Jesus gained the power and honor and glory at his baptism, NOT at his death. Revelation is not God's word.

^ P.S. another thought I forgot to add to that post...

In John 1, the way it is worded indicates that "Peter" was not present at the time of Jesus' baptism [His baptism being spoken of in vv.32-34]... Verse 35 goes on to speak of "two of his [John the Baptist's] disciples were present "the next day," and that one of these two was "Andrew" (Simon Peter's brother)... then in v.41, it says Andrew "findeth his own brother Simon [/Peter], and saith unto him, 'We have found the Messias/Messiah,' which is, being interpreted, the Christ."
