Is the Ten Commandments the Law according to the Bible?

I am just wondering if the word Law is used. I couldn't find it with a Google Search.

I know that there is a new covenant. But the word covenant, used of the Ten Commandments, would be different than the word Law or law used of the same if it occurs.

The Ten Commandments (so called) are part of the Law. The Ten Commandments are not a covenant, but again are part of a covenant of the Law.

Okay.

Exodus 24:7 NASB20 - Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read [it] as the people listened; and they said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!"

Deuteronomy 4:13 NASB20 - "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, [that is,] the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

The true law has been removed from stone and inscribed on our hearts. I believe the Ten are foremost for in them is al goodness and decency elaborated by our actions and understanding.

My first derivation stems from the gift of faith, however there is another foundational derivation, and that is when we examine the Ten commandments we easily understand that if we obey the first of them, all others will ensue quite naturally due to our new nature..

There were many laws in the OT, understanding them is vital to understanding how they apply today.

The problem of sin has been from the start and will continue until sin is no more. Rev 21:4.
So a law defining sin has been in place.
The same law is still defining sin today.

What is defining sin.
Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
Mat 22:37-40
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

If some ask what it means to love God and Love your neighbor, the 10 commandments explain it in more detail.

The 10 commandments where considered the main Laws of the Old Covenant.. But they where not the only ones.. You have to read through books like Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy to get a more complete picture of the OT Law..

The law is the ten commands, it is also the whole of the law or torah given to moses.. in fact I believe the first 5 books are called the torah (law)

They are called the Torah, and I believe Pentateuch is also correct.
It is refreshing to see someone write the the laws were given to Moses instead of the Law of Moses. God bless you always..

What is the difference with the new covenant for Israel? For, Gentiles do not or have not had the Law.

The word Torah means instruction, direction, teaching, law.

The covenant is the Ten Commandments, Ten Words, or Ten Utterances. I am not sure about the last one.

The Law was given to Israel through the prophet Moses. Or, rather, the covenant was. It was God's covenant with Israel.

All the scriptures are good for one to have full knowledge of the will of God.. But if you are looking for a comprehensive overview of all the OT laws then reading the 3 books i suggested will give you that knowledge..

It sounds like you are saying that Numbers does not have laws.

Well if you find a critical ( important ) OT law in Numbers that is not dealt with in the other books i quoted please quote it to me and i will gladly concede to your point..

I just thought that it was all the Law or Torah, and Genesis doesn't explain the Law of Moses whatever that is.

I did a Google Search and came up with this verse. I don't know where the other covenants are though.

Numbers 36:13 NASB20 - These are the commandments and the ordinances which the LORD commanded to the sons of Israel through Moses in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan [opposite] Jericho.
