It is never about the money or the riches. It's about where is your trust and where do we draw our life from. Heaven is filled with riches that we don't even have a clue about yet. If riches within themselves were evil - heaven will be the most evil place one could ever imagine.

Indeed, the rich man who was sadden, Jesus already knew his heart that he would be sad about selling his wealth, the other he knew his heart thus became a disciple.

This is a very important topic. How best can we understand what Jesus Christ said when He said plainly that it will be easier for a camel to pass through the needle's eye than a rich man entering into God's kingdom.
The same can be said about any person, not just the rich. If we work toward passing through to heaven, we will be just as successful as trying to shove a camel through a needle.

Check it out. Each and every time anyone asked Jesus "what must I do to be saved," he brought out an impossible scenario. Every time! And only once did a guy actually admit he couldn't do it. The one and only time Jesus did tell how it is done.

Everyone else simply went away with the same conclusion -- can't be done. It can't be! Not a single one of us can pull it off. There is but one way, and one way only. John 3:21 tells that one way!

The love of our fellow neighbor is the only Way a believer can make heaven. Jesus knowing this also knew it will difficult for any rich man to exonerate himself as a lover of his fellow neighbor when he keep ermersing wealth .

God loves equality and as such also want us to take what we need and share the excess.

You are right. The gem stones are huge. The gate is made of one giant pearl. God's throne is pure sapphire. And the streets have pure gold on them. There is abundance of everything and no lack of any sort.

I found Amos but now it looks like Philemon has gone off somewhere.

We cannot make it to heaven by loving others.

We can make ti heaven only when our sins are forgiven in Christ Jesus and in his death on the cross.

Poor people are more open to these things than the rich ones. Poor people look forward to death and have no relations to this world.
For the rich ones it is almost impossible to not to look at this world and to look for God and the life after the death.

But the salvation is in God, not in our searching and trying.

Does this mean all will be saved? No. But His desire is that they would be saved.

I Timothy 2:1-6 "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time."

good point hastrup, one of the few times Jesus was directly questioned on salvation. loving your fellow man was a key point to it.

Lk 10
25And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” 28And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”

There are two ways how to be saved:

1. Do everything what is needed.

2. Forgiveness of sins and debts in the blood of Christ.

Nobody will get to heaven by the 1st way... neither poor nor rich.

Yes, Heaven is for all. So the rich will go to Heaven. CHRIST died for everyone whether rich or poor. For it is written, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)." Here you can clearly see what will take us to heaven which is "believing in JESUS CHRIST". So, whoever believe in JESUS CHRIST the Son of GOD will go to Heaven.

Again before the coming and the resurrection of JESUS CHRIST our LORD; the richest man who existed in those days was King Solomon and he was a Child of GOD, and heaven was his home. Again, look at Abraham, he was a very rich man and today he is in Heaven. Look at his sons, Isaac and his grandson Jacob, they all were very rich and they are in Heaven. So, you can see that Heaven is also for the rich as where as for the poor.

Thanks be to GOD ALMIGHTY our HOLY FATHER for CHRIST died for all.
Glory to GOD for ever in JESUS' NAME.
JESUS CHRIST IS LORD OF ALL.

Nope, that's not it.

There is only one way. One way, truth, and life. His name is Jesus, not "loving of our fellow neighbors."

Jesus said if you love me you will do my will. If you love Christ we will obey His commandment and His will and commandment is to love our fellow neighbors.

Is it really possible for us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to et we keep gathering wealth for ourselves? The last time I checked, the population of the poor is still much more than that of the rich. There are so many out there that are very much in need.

There is a point Jesus was trying to make when He told the rich man to get rid of his wealth and follow Him. The rich man could not put Jesus before his wealth so he could not give it up. The rich man placed his faith in his wealth. Jesus was asking the man to Him first but the man could not do it. No where in the Bible does God tell us that we cannot have great wealth. But God does tell us in His Word that our wealth should not control us. The word "wealth" could be replaced by anything we put before God. Is there something in our life that we are putting before God? It could be wealth, fame, material things, love, knowledge, wisdom ect. If we have something in our lives that we are putting before God then we also cannot enter the kingdom of God. Jesus should be first and foremost in our lives. If this is not so then we should be praying for the Holy Spirit to help us give these things to God for His glory not our own. Our faith should be fully in Christ not in the things given us by God. For all that we have is given us by God, not ony to enjoy, but to also use for the glory of God.

Jesus was using "wealth" as an example of anything we may be putting before Him. Our own personal statement of faith should begin with two words, Jesus first. Is there something in your life you are putting before Jesus?

And back to "each and ever time Jesus brought up and impossible scenario. And all but once, the person who asked "How must I be saved" walked away knowing it was impossible."

You've just done the same thing in thinking you do that or can do that.

Again, only. one. way. CHRIST, not us! Only Christ in us. Not us!

I'm curious. Since you are Nigerian (a nation known for destitute poverty) on the Internet, what is your take on being rich or poor? Is that what this is about to you?

God loves equality and as such also want us to take what we need and share the excess.
Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

If any person teaches the prosperity Gospel,withdraw yourself from them,having food and clothing,be content,for God only blesses with our needs,not our wants,and the love of money is the root of all evil for it violates the 2 greatest commandments,love God,and love people,and the love of money neglects the poor and needy,which is what God wants the world to be based on,and what it is all about.

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Act 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Act 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.

Act 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
Act 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Act 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
Act 4:35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

2Co 6:10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things(to be given in due time,but not now).

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1Ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
1Ti 6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

God's kingdom is based on love,and God loves people,not blessing the saints will monetary,and material gain,for personal use other than their needs,and to help other people with their needs if possible.

The early Church sold all they had,and gave to the poor.That is why Jesus told the rich man to sell all he has and give to the poor,for it is about loving people,and thr rich that come to Christ,God wants them to distribute their money to help the poor.

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

The last Church age where they are many that are hypocritical,for they are lukewarm,not putting in too much of an effort living for God,that is in to the love of money,and say they have need of nothing,for they do not depend on God and pray too often thinking that all is well with them,but do not know that they are in a bad position.

A lot of people will not heed to help the poor,and only go by their needs,as millions of people like the material things,and money,and worldliness,which love not the world,or the things in the world.

Pro 30:11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
Pro 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Pro 30:13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
Pro 30:14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

The last generation before Jesus comes back,which they will be pure in their own eyes,but not washed away from their filthiness,and will heap money to themselves and will not care about the poor and needy.

Too bad many that claim Christ believing the prosperity Gospel,or not caring being hypocritical,are contributing to that worldly way of loving money and material things.

We spend money on our wants,and not our needs,and the needs of others,not good.

This ain't no game dog.God is not a game show host and you win cash and prizes as you live for Him.God is not a vending machine,you put in a prayer,and you get your want.

Though loving others is a command given by Jesus it is not the way to heaven. Our salvation is dependant only on the life and work of Jesus. This means that unless we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we cannot get to heaven. There are some who say that "living a good life" is the way to heaven. It is not for we cannot save ourselves. Our salvation is not dependant upon anything we do but only upon what Jesus did. We can never do enough to get to heaven on our own. Unless you have given your life to Jesus you shall never gain heaven. But we also have a responsability to live our lives for the glory of God. Our confession means nothing unless we also do as God commands per His moral laws.
