It does make interesting points.
My take on it- I had this discussion with a friend- is at first it'll be gradual. The seasons will appear to go by faster, which I think we've seen but not to a Biblical prophecy degree. However as the date comes closer, the sun will set sooner, and sooner a little each day, and then more. And the moon will stop appearing but when it does, according to its moon phases at its brightest it will only appear crimson, like it's at a permanent lunar eclipse. That's how I read this passage. It will be so slow that scientists won't think anything of it but then it will accelerate.
As for the expansion of the universe, it's due to dark matter, which no one knows anything about, other than it (kind of) has a mass, but is still very undetectable. Yeah, sounds like God to me lol.
