Even with the Holly Spirit as a guide I still let the flesh jump in at times. Jesus wasn't telling folks to Sin NO More as in being perfect. I am only made perfect in Christ.
7But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
8Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.…
10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"
11She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."
In saying, “Go and sin no more,” Jesus was not speaking of sinless perfection. He was warning against a return to her sinful lifestyle choice. His words both extended mercy and demanded holiness. Jesus was always the perfect balance of “grace and truth” (John 1:14). With forgiveness comes the expectation that we will not continue in the same path of rebelliousness. Those who know God’s love and Spirit will naturally want to obey Him (John 14:15).
