I've seen many followers of Islam on the news rioting in the streets and burning things when they get offended by something, which seems to be quite often.

Is their reaction appropriate? Are they fighting for something they passionately believe in? Should Christians defend themselves with the same enthusiasm and passion?

Not a discussion about wether their beliefs or actions are justified.. More a discussion on how they are willing to stand up for their beliefs and fight back against opposition... And should all
Religious people feel so strongly
About their god being mocked

LOL they don't know what they do. I dont know why they believe, I havent seen one good reason to follow islam. no miracles, no testimonies it isnt attractive.
I don't get why they stand up for their religion, it seems so elementary to me.

Not trying to teach Buddhism but back then Buddhist missionaries actually suffered and were martyred for the spread of their moral teachings among crude selfish dynasties of the far east. I think we can learn a lot about them and others who fight....But to a certain extent. I don't know about burning stuff....Dude that crazy.....

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1Pe 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1Pe 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1Pe 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

2Co 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
2Co 10:2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)
2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2Co 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
2Co 10:7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

Rom 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

It isn't only Islam that is gaining, it is any idea that gives discipline. The Mormons, for instance. These people have in common, when asked why about following them to just look at what they do. Islam talks a lot about the rules and discipline, they are blind to the lack of love. Mormons follow many rules of discipline. People are drawn to this.

These are false Gods, according to our God. Their Gods have different names and/or they have different characteristics. It means eternal death to use false Gods.

I think the people who are following the true God need to look at the discipline we are accused of not having. Many of our people are absolutely against any discipline. Many say if you do anything for yourself you are denying that Christ takes care of it for you and His care is superior. Christ says His care is superior to ours, God talks of His grace all through scripture. None of the other Gods people have made up can say that. But the idea that we can toss out all discipline our God asks of us is man made, it takes reading scripture passages apart from the entire message of God.

God says that by their fruits you shall know them. We have wonderful fruits of kindness and love, but we are tossing out all fruits of self discipline God tells us to have. So people are going to false religions. And we are denying ourselves many blessings God has for us.

What was Yeshua's response to the persecution and oppression He and His disciples faced by individuals?

Matthew 5:38-39 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also."

And in regards to the Government?

Romans 13:1-7 "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.2 Thereforewhoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor."

Hope everyone is having a great night!
Matt

In my opinion I think it's sick how we as christians continually take the easy way out, we don't want to offend anyone so we don't say anything when Jesus & God's name is used as a curse word, we don't stand up anymore, we hide behind being humble and turning the other cheek, but there is a time for righteous anger, and standing for what we believe

Peace be with you and stop being a busybody. JESUS says this to those who have ears, to listen and pay attention;
"Obey GOD's Word (CHRIST's teachings) and do HIS will and they are My brothers, sisters and mother."
"Do not (commandment) be conformed to the pattern of this world but allow GOD to renew your mind."

Thus says the LORD of the New Covenant, GOD the FATHER made with you;
"If anyone here is without sin, may cast the first stone at them."
'Christian are not to be trouble makers but peace makers.'
'Let love be your debt to GOD and love is your guide.'
'Women are to posses a gentle and quiet spirit.'
'Women are not to practice authority over men.' (Unrepentful and unseekful for GOD's righteousness, if they continue, they practice to posses jezebel's spirit)
'Do not test the LORD thy GOD who have purged out a multitude of your sins and redeemed you from your enemy' (the same enemy who once worked in you before is working in them the world and so they are blind and only GOD can give them insight).
'Grace and Truth has been shown onto you, then show Grace and Truth onto others.'
'Why do you argue and fight. You even want to murder to get what you want. This is because you are full of selfish feelings and desires. Instead of arguing and fighting, why don't you pray. Even when you pray, your prayers are not answered because it is of self purposes.'
May the Good GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST forgive, bless and help you in spirit and truth.

They react because what they believe is based in flesh, world.
When their world is threatened, they defend it.

We who are born of Jesus, live in His spirit, no longer of the world.
Jesus is our shield, our defence, for He has overcome the world.

God bless
