There Jesus hang on that cross; beaten, torn, exhausted, in shock. He thirsts, they took a sponge and soaked it in vinegar and put it on a spear up to his mouth so that he may drink. The drink, was it one last mockery to Jesus or was it customary of the times to drink vinegar? The vinegar on his cuts and scrapes, the burning on the wounds as it drippled down his beaten body, probably too in shock to even feel the pain anymore, everything just numb. Yet our King's heart still filled with compassion for those who hung him to die. Father they know not what they do, forgive them! Sweet King Jesus, you are worthy.

This started as a question of whether the vinegar was a kind gesture or a mockery like the crown of thorns, now I am reminded of communion when we drink in remembrance of the blood that was shed for our covering of sins. This heartbreak, ending in victory and glory when the keys of death were taken and our glorious King resurrected anew, King of King and Lord of Lords. An advocate for us before the father, should we accept his sacrifice and his forgiveness and walk in faith. May we forever worship and serve the Lord Almighty!

Psalm 22

16For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17I may tell all my bones: they look andstare upon me.
18They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

You will find more prophecy fulfilled.

Truly is Amazing.

I am familiar with the prophesy, and it is amazing, and our God is awesome. I wonder about the gesture of the vinegar, was it an insult or was meant to be kind. I am making homemade vinegar from apples off the tree. Before it is boiled off, it contains a small amount of alcohol leftover from the fermentation process. Is this what they would have gave Jesus? I now remember when Jesus turned the water into the finest wine. Did they let the wine turn to vinegar before drinking back in the day did they boil it off? I began making this vinegar and started thinking about King Jesus' walk on this Earth.

If you said you were thirsty, and two people came to you, one with a tall glass of ice water, and one with a tall glass of vinegar, which would you choose? Look at what they were saying beforehand "If you are the Son of God, come off the cross and prove it!" It is the same attitude as when they put a purple robe and a crown of thorns on Him. If they were sincere it would be a crown of gold and a sponge of water, if they were making a mockery of Him it would be a crown of thorns and a sponge of vinegar.

I looked it up in both Hebrew and Greek, and gull means seagull. The vinigar was mixed with probably the blood, eggs, or feathers of a sea- gull. In other words, they were being as cruel as possible.

That is quite horrid to think about when you put it like that, that he should be treated so, all the way to the end of his sacrifice. This is why he is worthy, this is why he is my King, and this is why we are set free.
