That what would modern Jesus look like thread sparked off this thought in my mind again.
Anyone have any insight or scriptures as to why Jesus came when He came? I mean, out of all the time in history to come, is there any significance about the time He did come?

Because it was the fullness of time. (Gal. 4:4)

The Greek language meant that everyone could understand the gospel when it was preached.

The Roman empire meant safety on the roads and high seas as evangelists spread out.

Prophecy was fulfilled.

Jesus had to be born of the line of David. The records of lineage were kept in the temple which was razed to the ground by Titus in 70 AD. So it had to be before then, when the temple records were destroyed.

Jesus needed to come as a prophet to his own people first. Again, the Jews were dispersed after 70 AD, so it had to be before then.

Jesus needed to live in a time in which crucifixion was practiced, to fulfill that prophecy.

And so on! So he could not come today, except to rule and reign. Not as a baby, born of a virgin.

God promised land to Abraham 430 years before he gave it to Abraham's descendants. He said that he had to wait for the sins of the inhabitants to be complete. That struck me like God knew they were bad and he knew they would get worse, but to take it from them early was unfair. But think how many nations were already living in that land that God was waiting to take.

We both come from lands where the inhabitants were't even living in our lands 430 years ago, and yet look at all the people and all the history that has happened since our lands got the names given to them. God knows what our lands will be like in another 200 years. He orchestrates it even though all the inhabitants have free agency.

I figure Jesus came at just the right time and place by that God, still mind-boggled at what he did even without the news or Internet.

It was perfect timing. Can you imagine doing things physically instead of spiritually with our weapons and technology? Having to put people to death for fornication, paying for things with animals, David killing his tens of thousands. With every religion thinking they are the right religion, we'd be in a constant state of war everywhere. And if there were already so many religions, you wouldn't be able to know Jesus had the right one, because it was the first one. And there was so many meanings and simple items that every country can understand the bible. But if Jesus made parables about things that people don't understand, they wouldn't be able to understand the parable. How can people in underdeveloped countries understand Facebook and Twitter? It was just the perfect timing for so many reasons.

Plus there was the prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27 that specified exactly when he would appear. John the baptist had more than faith to know when the messiah would arrive; he had that witness of scripture. But the rulers were blind to it.

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? Matthew 16:1-3

:smoke: yes my brethren
if our lord god the father almighty would allowed it
But to those who were not aware of this things will be deceive by those evil things
that even their great intellectual being can't save them except by the words of
Truth coming from the god of truth who is good and to his
Only begotten son our saviour when the time comes . ...

God bless us all

Evil is allowed to have their reward for a time that God allows (that is another reason why Jesus showed up when He did).

Another reason was to be crucified on a cross.

John 12:31-33King James Version (KJV)[SUP]31 [/SUP]Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
[SUP]32 [/SUP]And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]This he said, signifying what death he should die.

[the prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27 that specified exactly when he would appear]

There will be 7 weeks plus 62 weeks = 69 weeks.
That is 483 years (Num 14:34 and Ezek 4:6).

Artaxerxes Longimanus in 457BC (Ezra 7:12-26)

the decree in 457BC brings us to 27AD for the beginning of the ministry of Christ,
the first 3-1/2 years exactly as the prophecy in Dan 9 predicts.

decree: 457BC + 483 years = 27AD.
Christ's formal, 3-1/2 year ministry began in 27AD culminating in His crucifixion in 31AD.

The second coming is in actuality a continuation of the first coming.

Luk 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luk 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luk 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down.
And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

He stop reading just there, close the book, and sit down?

Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
And here is where He stopped reading in mid sentence.

Now the passage He quoted continues...

and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD,
that he might be glorified.

Isa 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations,
and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Isa 61:5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall
be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

Isa 61:6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers
of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
Isa 61:7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their
portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

He came the first time to complete Isa 61:1-2 but not all of verse 2.
When He returns, He will complete verse 2 and forward through verse 7.
