John 9:17-19

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]17 [/SUP]They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?

John 9:17-19

New International Version (NIV)

[SUP]17 [/SUP]Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”
[SUP]18 [/SUP]They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. [SUP]19 [/SUP]“Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”

17 They may have wanted to trap this man or have him saythat this man was nothing big; he might have done this out of fear, which mayhave been what was expected. This man’s parents would later show fear. This manknew He was a prophet after have though on it a time but, he would soon see thetruth that Jesus was far more than just another prophet.

18 They refused to accept Jesus could do anything good. Theywere blinded and they could not accept Jesus as a healer and of the Lordbecause they could not do this they would not know Him as Lord. There are manyout there who no matter what happen they will not come to the Lord. No onecomes to the Lord unless He first draws them. They wanted proof that this manwas born blind but it is by faith that the truth is accepted.

19 They question the parents of this man. These men ask notto seek the face of the Lord and His power but to cause trouble and name blame. These men hated Jesus and some never accepted Him. We as believers shouldanswer any questions we can answer these questions as long as we are given ananswer from Him, there may come times where we do not have the answer for aquestion we know the answer to, this often happens when the person is notseeking the Truth. We may not always have the right answers but we should notanswer things we are not sure of, it is better not to answer than to mislead. Some people who ask question are trying to seek His face.

Two issues, based on their perception of him as a mere human:
(a) The Pharisees didn't like the fact that he appeared to have powers that they did not possess. They the law givers and makers felt threatened by him.
(b) Jesus did not conform with their messianic expectation of a Jewish version of Hercules doing battle with the Romans, the secular power. They could not understand how he could be the son of God, if he were not God the Son.
