We see our pastor & know him by his fruits.

As for Calvin, I've never seen him nor heard him.

Besides, we're not basing an entire belief system based on our pastor's teachings.

Calling an entire belief system "Calvinism" should set off red lights by itself.

Not even televangelists are trying that.
Actually, we prefer Reformed, but that tends to set people's confus-o-meter flying into the red zone. So folks have linked us to one reformer, and Calvin won.

Hello Ariel82
Here is a bit of a heads up on the term Calvinist. The word was used by detractors and critics of Reformed theology. Calvin or supporters of Reformed theology did not come up with it . It was later adopted by many as time passed.
Back to the subject. Job is one of my favorite books of the Bible. I have started listening to the link you posted . I will post my opinion later after listening to more . Thanks for starting it .
Blessings
Bill

While Calvin's sermons on Job could be helpful to you, the Gospel of Calvinism is not the same as the Gospel of the New Testament. Calvinists do NOT believe that Christ died for the sins of the whole world.
I would think they knew he died for the sins of the whole world and not just the Jewish world .The whole world is subject to His law found in His book of the law, the Bible.

He died for all the pagan religions of the world . Satan does not try and deceive those alone connected with the bible, God's word of prohecy.. and that is it.

Those without the written law perish by it.Those who do have it a judged by it .No person of any nation could escape its judgment .

It how he uses the words "whole world" By it we hear what the Spirit is saying to all the believers in the whole world .(Jew and gentile alike)

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

1John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

Garee, how does your post the with the book of Job?

If you wish to debate limited versus universal atonement of Jesus death on the cross, could you either pm the person or start a new thread or read the many threads Reformed folks have already started and read what they believe on the topic.

It's better to learn what others believe from the person directly instead of second hand opinions.
.
That is way I posted the sermons, I wanted to learn and talk about what John Calvin actually said about Job.

I plan on relistenibg and as best to my God given ability, break it into smaller bits for us to discuss each idea.

I may misunderstand what I hear or mis type..y'all can listen and express what you heard.

All I ask is for us to speak in love and to give one another grace when we make mistakes and not condemnation and offense.

God bless and keep y'all.

Sorry about that I did get sidetracked.

I found them in writing because that's what works best for me. I read a bit and liked it very much! Now I am going to search for if anyone has translated them to my everyday vernacular because I find his so laborious. But if I don't find them in my vernacular, I'll be reading them anyway because what I read so far was extremely good. :)

Could you post the link for the written version? I am not an audio person either. Plus, I can read 10x faster than someone can talk, so much quicker to read it!

Thanks!

You would think after so many years of hearing about TULIP that I would have looked up what it meant at some point but I never have because I sort of just ran from it because of the nastiness that ensues.

So I finally looked it up. I think I agree with it...

awesome!

i learn better by both listening and seeing the written words.

i agree 100% with the P or that God's grace allows His saints to continue in faith towards His holiness and His will for our lives.

i agree he is hard for some to understand (Calvin) but i thought it would be beneficial for us to attempt as you say to put his thoughts in every day vernacular.

Have to go tutor at the Middle school, see if i can find a homeless man to give this present of blankets and dog food and scriptures i just wrapped, pick up my daughter from school, tutor 9 middle and high schoolers at church, attend wonderful wednesday, lead a debriefing for our Christmas open house and then maybe I can come back home and enjoy God's rest and peace of nightly sleep.

Have a bless day!
