[2] And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
[3] And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

I believe what is written too, Im not afraid to compare and consider things because that is how the Holy Ghost teaches.
I dont usually chose to do that openly though, that which can be spiritual is subject to misunderstanding and the natural man wouldnt receive it even if was true. Not to mention if you cannot tie it in perfectly enough you will leave yourself wide open for being trodden under foot (I get it)
But I dont necessarily discard the fact that descriptions can allow for certain but not always in all things
I draw lines myself, however I will reach but if they dont make sense to me I always back up
I am actually very hard to convince of things, so I am not really afraid to try prove things out, that is of great importance to me

1) the duration of the locust plague is 5 mo.
2) the duration of the pain is 5 mo.
Read it with the 2 thoughts in mind. They both fit.

Thats like the least of my concerns, it would be tormenting those without the seal of God
So no matter what it is (or what they are after ones present understanding ) whether they be physical (literal) or whether spiritual (literal) the torment inflicted is very real (whether inner or outer) and those without the seal of God will long to die, that much is certain
Whether they are one time stingers or hang on like ticks right?

I was busting, an evil spirit knows "who is who" before touching anyone because the other have power over them

While I agree that there is a lot of symbolism in Revelation, I am not persuaded that everything in Revelation is symbolic.
I am not persuaded that anyone fully understands all the symbolism; nor am I persuaded that any one symbol finds its application in any one time frame. I believe that some of the symbols may have different meanings in the first four centuries than they do in the endtimes.
I believe that the locust army is indeed a special creation with literal power to inflict pain without inflicting death.
I do NOT believe that they and the Church will be present at the same time.
I believe that those protected from them are post rapture tribulation saints, who are primarily from the tribes of Israel.

Cant you compare serpents to evil angels, like locusts or scorpions to the same? Like bites/ mouths/ stings/tails/ wrath, troubles/ etc?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people,
and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Pslam 78: 49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble,
by sending evil angels among them.
We see he sent an evil spirit to trouble Saul
1 Sam 17:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul,
and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1 Sam 16:15 And Saul's servants said unto him,
Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
They knowwho is whogiven Jesus gave them power over them to his own, and so they cannot hurt them (Luke 10:19)
Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; butwho are ye?
Though in revelation these things (whatever they are considered to be by whomever)
which have faces like men can only hurt those not sealed

so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
So likewise did that one do the same with those invoking the name of Jesus (whom Paul preached) they didnt have the same power and in the name of Jesus failing these guys (who aparently were not sealed with the Spirit) was maginified.
Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devilsare subject unto us through thy name.

Which just does sounds so similar in the sense of what is commanded these things in Rev as to what is given them to do (which is to hurt) and whom they cannot do that to. All things are subject to him , He that commands the winds and waves is over all power. The ones tormented by the same are those not sealed by Jesus Christ.

The Holy Ghost reveals things to you. comparative analysis of scripture and looking for so called "similar keys, clues, or idioms" can become allegorical assumption if you are not careful. Allegorical assumptions opens the door to deep deception.
