This is the BDF (bible discussion forum). The mere act of posting here makes you a target for all kinds of attacks. Some new users quit the site after a day because of this area. Some users refuse to come in here at all. It's a rather vile place.
Boy, are they in for a surprise then. ;)

Thanks for the tip!

Could you possibly list the subject that we CAN discuss? I find this funny because I belong to a few pages on FB that discuss Bible issues and there's nobody getting their feelings hurt or accusing those with whom they disagree as trying to be the King of the Hill.
Pets (but don't get into if animals go to heaven)
Praises
Pants (unless you think only men should wear them)
Gardens (unless it steers off into creation v. evolution)
"What's wrong with me" (particularly if you want every single person to add to your list)
and Cookies.

Honest. You just have to ask for a cookie on here and see where it leads. It's almost like winning a cookie lottery. The only downside is you see them, but can't eat them.

Regardless of where you go on the internet, it seems some measure of thick skin is required. This is not the age where it was considered impolite to express your opinion. This is the age where teenagers are committing suicide because of things people say to them online. The vulnerable have always been preyed upon by predators. Now they have internet accounts to help them do it...
I first began to deal with keyboard commandos on the 'net back in the late 90's. You'll never believe what the forum was about - vintage GiJoes!!!!! They're be a discussion of the accuracy of a particular piece of uniform or equipment and I'd offer my advice based on being a 2nd generation Marine. I'd then be attacked by some pimply kid living in his parent's basement and told I didn't know what I was talking about! ;)

It's amazing to me how there are folks who cannot discuss an contentious issue without getting all bent out of shape. I'm pretty solid in my beliefs but there have been times where logical arguments and documentation to back up what they say has caused me to change my mind. I actually like when that happens because it means I've learned something.

With 56 trips around the Sun under my belt and having lived all over the globe, I've seen it all and shouldn't be surprised at anything.

Would someone with the minority 100 or so posts be that person or the one with thousands? ;)
We are an equal opportunity Hill King site! Number of posts don't matter. Just how good is your attitude.

We'll see. Many have tried to change this place. All have given up.
Oh, the irony of seeing "We'll see" spoken by one who's avatar is an eyeball!!! ;)

I'm not here to change anything. Just adding my two cents on subjects that interest me is all.

Seeing your signature line made me remember the lyrics to an old song by The Atlanta Rhythm Section called "The Ballad of Louis Malone":

"She was not a lady, but she was a woman. And that's all that mattered to me".

I know full well from having been in law enforcement what you say is true. That's why LEOs don't put much stock in eyewitness testimony. I think that if folks would forget about what they've heard Granny say all these years or what the Reverend Billy Bob Blowhard says on TBN and just READ what the Bible says they've have less arguments. I take the scriptures literally where they are obvious literal and when they are not, I compare them to other scriptures throughout the Bible that speak on the same subject. Do have it all down pat? Nope. I still can't get my mind wrapped around some of it (like Revelation, for example), but I'm amazed at how some people are so caught up in what this Christian author says or what that YouTube video says that they lose sight of what the Bible actually says.

For example, many feel that keeping the Sabbath precludes going to church on Sunday. The Bible doesn't say that and neither do most Sabbath keepers.

Oh well. Folks that think they can chase me away or beat me down with insults don't realize that having been a Marine and a Correctional Officer, I've got thick skin (thinker in some places than I'd prefer) and can take it from the best of 'em. :D
Ack! Sabbath Keepers! Now you jinxed it!!! (Haven't seen that argument in a year. lol)

Yeah, I started not to use that as an example since a thread on the 4th Commandment is where a few folks were trying to discourage my participation in the forum. ;)

Well, quite frankly, getting too hooked up on the 4th just ruins a good Saturday of fishing.

Wonder why we needed all those epistles and books in the New Testament? Wonder why Paul called the gospel a great mystery?

Okey dokey. Here ya go..................

A person hears the Gospel preached (you know, how faith comes from the hearing of the word), realizes its truth and makes a conscious decision to turn from their sins (repent - change your mind) and accept the free gift of salvation that's available to us by the sacrifice made on our behalf by Jesus' death on Calvary. We then begin to study His teachings and do our best to conform our lives to what He taught and to immolate His example of how to live our lives. Part of that is reaching out to our fellow man who are still in their sins with the good news.

How'd I do?
