The cardinal reason we find it hard to love others is failure to comprehend the magnitude of God’s love for us!
Proverbs 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Isaiah 64:7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Romans 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Philippians 2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.

For those who will seek Him and find Him

Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Romans 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

Ephesians 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I say --I believe the fundamental reason we find it hard to Love others is because we try to love others with our Human love which will eventually dwindle and fade -----loving others is no easy task ----we humans can do it for a time but then if we offend the person or they offend us this love turns on us and we are no longer in the love mode but are in the angry mode -----

- There are different kinds of Love and they all --Except One ---- rely on our feelings or emotions in my view ---

There is Human love which is very demanding and an off and on kind of Love -----which is why there are so many divorces ----it is a love that relies on our feelings and emotions --it is a roller coaster kind of love --that eventually can ware a person down and cause the person to cave in and quite on this love ----

There is Family Love ---which is a love that is in place because of the shared Blood that runs through a family ----this love can also be on and off -----Many families are torn apart because of pride ---greed and an unwillingness to give in ---so this love can be a failed Love ---

There is Romantic Love ---which is a love based on an attraction sexually to another ----and this love can be very hurtful and damaging as this love can cause adultery and Lustful Feelings which can lead to unwanted advancements toward another ----so this love is a lustful love ----the Scripture warns against this type of love

There is a Friendship Love ---- this love can be bonding and can be strong at times or it can be wavering at times ----this love is based on trust and confidentiality between friends and when on breaks either of these 2 things ---this love can waver and be lost as well as hurtful---

Then there is the highest form of Love ---Agape ----this is God's love -this love comes from our Will --it is a Sacrificial Love ----We love God not because we have to but because He first Loved Us --

This Love is given by and through the Holy Spirit ----this Love is a Fruit of the indwelling of The Holy Spirit in us ---this Love is unconditional and is constant and never fails ---this love loves the unlovely --this Love is Stable and Secure ---this love says no matter what you say to me or how you treat me I will still love you ----this LOVE Never Fails and has no conditions place on it to love others ----

This love is what God is ---This is the Love that We are suppose to love God and our neighbour with ---- ----Agape God first --only then you can Agape your neighbour ----

I say, it is easy to love others. Our mind is designed to love. God created us to love because He created us to LOVE HIM. We open our eyes loving our mother until we don't; loving a wife/husband until we don't or our children until we don't. Notice the fact that we give our minds reasons and excuses to not love. So, actually, the "hard part" is loving those who we don't like and that is because of the reasons or excuses that we created.

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:

and his commandments are not grievous.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods love looks a lot like this

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:27-29, 31-32, 35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods love is explained in the gospel Jesus preached and sent to the world if we hear and believe we can start to
Love people Gods way

mostly we’re best at lovong our own self , I think that is why we’re supposed to learn to Love other people like we do ourselves

when we are hungry we feed ourself , when we are thirsty we get drink , whenever we have a need we meet the need and we also do this for others often our family and everything but do we actually care about the person who is on the corner begging for food and change ?

do we care about the hungry person out in the cold enough to act upon it ? Are we willing to help others ?

Totally agree....what a sad state we are all in when in reality we have to be taught how to love.
That is how far we are from God. That's how far sin has drawn us through the ages away from the Holy one.
God has to give us a new heart....a renewed mind, and to remind us that kindness is a act of faith.

I
I really doubt whether its easy to love because although God created us with a propensity to love(seed of love),its unlikely that we can all love because this seed was apparently corrupted by the devil,so what we can do today is love someone because they are relatives or family,or because we want something from them, you see that love has strings attached to it,but the love that is outside of our family circles and expectation of something from someone is the real love, imagine how much God loves us,he gaves us everything and we ruined it ,he comes back and offers his son to get us back !!Today you find christians who love none other than their family members and decieve themselves they have the real love of God,am not saying loving family is not love but even the ungodly do that!!!

Thanks fo the insight friend, but i have a feeling that the real love from God is apparently the Agape and these others kinds cannot stand of themselves,if family, friendship or romantic love does not spring from the Agape,it will ultimately fade,i have seen parents who nolonger connect with their children, partners who dont talk anylonger because apparently their love was not the real love of God,i imagine how many times i wrong God but everyday he wispers to me ‘i love you son’ whenever i see Christ hang on a tree ,i ask for the grace to love all because thats the best example, man He loves, loves and loves!! I want to be like him everyday!

learning many years ago about love and hate, I realized it takes a lot of time , valuable time, out of anyone's life to hate, while love truly is easy, once we yield to it.
