Why is it that we make up "good" people

Then of course kids get older and find out that they are made up
Of course I know that people who don't know Christ, this is what they teach their kids, I wonder what goes through those kids head - ever good person you have talked about is made up.
on the other side, Christian parent who goes on with these things with their children, what do you say when your child says "so is Jesus, made up too?"
I would not want that conversation, just thinking on an early saturday morning
