We see many people on this chat site claiming to be a Christian but yet teaching lies of Satan.

Agree or disagree? What are you thoughts? Have you know people on here who teach nothing but the lies of Satan?
Its In the way the scripture Is Interpreted and remembe, scripture should Interpret scripture and harmonize with any other scripture that Is In the same context as the topic being discussed

and If It doesn't,then their Is error somewhere and If Its not the WORD and we already know that the WORD Is perfect,so then we know that Its the Interpretation.

The Matthew 7:21-23 passage reminds me so much of the pentecostal.charismatic.WOF movements because the things described in that passage are what they seek after and claim to do. Not that any of these things are wrong, but these are what these groups seem to focus on.

  • Cast out demons
  • Prophesy
  • Do powers (the word work is not in the text)
The 'casting out demons' bit made me think of Catholic priests.

Matthew 7:21-23
[SUP]21 [/SUP]“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. [SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ [SUP]23 [/SUP]And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

Today we are seeing Matthew 7 coming to light. We see many people on this chat site claiming to be a Christian but yet teaching lies of Satan.

Agree or disagree? What are you thoughts? Have you know people on here who teach nothing but the lies of Satan?
Matt 7:22-23
22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?"

23 And then will I profess unto them, "I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity."
KJV

That is a strong Message from our Lord Jesus to all in His Church.

Those who say to Him, "Lord, lord..." represent those who only play Church, teaching the doctrines of men from their religious organization traditions instead of God's direct Word, using Church as an excuse to have social functions and parties instead of first fulfilling the responsibility of teaching all of God's Word to His people.

It especially represents those who think all future sin was forgiven when they first believed and were baptized, thus causing those to not be watchful of future sins they may commit because they are lied to and told they no longer do sins. This is where Jesus' rebuke there for doing iniquity comes in. He started this warning about the way being narrow and those who do the will of His Father are those who will enter in.

Matthew 7:15 shows that Jesus was talking about false prophets - not those that are in Christ. It is so important to read scripture in context.

Notice that in Matt 7:19-33..Jesus said:

"I never knew you "...these people were not believers...( Jesus never said " I used to know you once."..He said I NEVER knew you at all...).

Everyone when they see Jesus will call Him Lord.....Jesus said that He "knows" His sheep so those in Matt. 7:19-33 are not true Christians.

John 10:14 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP]I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Jesus did the "will of God"...and delivered us from this present evil world

Galatians 1:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

It is God in us that gives us the will and the ability to do His will.

Philippians 2:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

The Will of the Father is to believe on Jesus.

1 John 3:23-24 (NASB)

[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

[SUP]24 [/SUP] The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

The good works we do are from "being in Christ"..being lead by the Holy Spirit. Notice God has prepared them for us. We walk them out as we life our lives dependent on Him. It is His fruit that bears in and through us.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

[SUP]9 [/SUP] not as a result of works, so that no one may boast
.

[SUP]10 [/SUP] For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

When those in the scripture above find out that they are not entering into the kingdom of God, they reveal the reason why by their own response, "did we not?" We cannot enter into the kingdom of God by our own efforts, which is what these will have been trusting in. We are saved by what Jesus did, not by what we do. Those above are attempting to enter in by prophesying, casting out demons and performing miracles. Basically they're not having faith in what Jesus did but in what they did.
Amen! Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. *Seeking salvation by works is not the will of the Father.

These many people (unbelievers) in Matthew 7:22 had the wrong foundation. They were trusting in their accomplishments/works to save them and NOT IN CHRIST ALONE. Jesus NEVER knew them which means they were never saved. Their hearts were not right with God, so their attempted external obedience was stained with sin.

Without faith it's impossible to please God. This is why Jesus referred to them as WORKERS OF INIQUITY/LAWLESSNESS! They were self righteous, just as ALL who trust in works-righteousness are. The correct answer is Lord, Lord, didn't YOU, not didn't WE.

Jesus said He never knew them,so they must of gotten off on the wrong foot when confessing Christ, and starting their walk with God,which they did not allow the Spirit to lead them at the initial start, which can only mean that they did not repent of their sins in the proper way, which did not allow the Spirit to lead them.

But the thing is some people may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but it would seem like they could get in the Spirit later on in life,if they come to the realization, and believe,in the true form of repentance.

But these people that said Lord,Lord, but could not dwell with Jesus, obviously never came to that realization.

It meant they did iniquity, and that suggests habitual sinning without forgiveness. For who would call our Lord Jesus there a liar in Matt.7 when He said they did iniquity?

Trying to make excuses like those weren't believers on Him just to keep a doctrine of men doesn't work either.

And indeed... they did NOT have the proper mindset about His Salvation evidently from the start, thinking that once they confessed Him and were baptized they no longer had to watch out for sin in their lives to stay in the walk with Him, repenting as necessary.

But no, the devils crept into Christ's Church today say once you have believed on Jesus and been baptized, then all future sins are forgiven and there is nothing you can do to lose your salvation. By that they assure... the believer will not have a clean slate when they appear before our Lord Jesus.

I see a lot of twisted answers. I think it means what it says. People who call Him Lord, but are not willing to obey, but rather are just lawless, Torah-less, and think everything is fine as long as they say it over and over and over that they believe in Jesus. These people will be in for a bad day.

I'll never forget, prior to my conversion several years ago, while still attending the Roman Catholic church, I read Matthew 7:22 and thought to myself, wow! These many people accomplished all of that, "prophesied in His name, cast out demons, and did many wonderful works" but that still was not "good enough?" Then I thought to myself at that time, how am I going to "top that" and be "good enough?" Such is the mindset of someone who thinks salvation is by works.

His name is actually Shaul. And he is very much misunderstood, just like Peter warned us about. >>And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

not sure about that. I have tried to come away from man-made doctrine, and read Scripture the way it is written. It really challenges our Western traditions, but it is not the first time.

To be clear, are you applying what you have emboldened towards Paul?
