1Ti_4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Are there any posters who practice Christian meditation who could help us learn how to meditate?

There seems to be two opposite ways to meditate. In the medical world it speaks of emptying your mind, but David and Timothy speak of filling your mind so completely with the word of the Lord there isn’t room for anything else. When scripture speaks of our need to meditate, it always mentions meditating on the words of the Lord.

I find that it isn’t easy to not allow your mind to wander. Does anyone have advice for us to meditate successfully?

As Christians, we listen to scripture, not the medical world that disagrees with scripture or the occult. I hope posters will not even mention these, they are not part of our Christian world. Please don't go there. Meditation is concentration, not emptying.

I have mediated a long time ago as a teen before I fell in love with the word of GOD while reading the bible. The way people do it today trying to empty their minds of all thoughts is VERY wrong! No good can come of this. it is an occult practice and dangerous.

Now I fill my mind with the commandments, the words of Christ constantly thinking of GOD and Christ, how perfect and flawless they are. I also speak to them constantly and thank them always. Talking, praying to them (in my mind) is the best way I know to keep aware of the Lord and his beloved Son. They are a presence with me now, I feel someone watching over me reminding me that they are there.

Of Course it becomes impossible to sin as you know they are watching you always!! yes this is valid for everyone!

It was hard at the beginning to always fill my mind with knowledge from God through the bible, but with time, a few months it became much easier, it takes time and practice but can be done.

The best, is reading the bible with an open heart, a deep and honest desire to understand. You will be able to read between the lines, the Holy Spirit of GOD sometimes reveals things that is not written, it will give you a much better understanding, the written words become clear like a knowledge you always knew and you become certain of the truth of the words you read. It takes time but you have to keep at it. Meditate of what you read, thinking of it, taking time to digest the divine words. Think of GOD and Jesus as your very best of friends, of course they ate infinitely more than this. They want for all of us to be part of their family. see John 17, my favorite passages of the Bible.

Peace and many Blessings,

the idea is Paul is saying “ these thkngs im teaching you in these words , meditate on them always “

it’s where our battle is most evident in the mind we want to hear the gospel and then consider it in our thinking in daily life , dwell on it think about what he’s saying . This is how it becomes part of our mind and heart or “ is written “ on the heart and on the mind .

we can hear the word and then let it slip away as if it doesn’t really matter to us and grab hold off the many things and corrupt ideas the world offers us and those things can fill our mind . We want to dwell on Christs word in the gospel because it frees us from the strongholds in our mind and heart that leads us to sin

“(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

to meditate we need to study the word d meditate on the word and how it applies To us , what he’s actually saying and. Calling for from us what he’s actually offered believers this should become our hopes and dreams for life the thy kings he teaches we want to let if fill us up and become part of how we think about God and eternal life

We want to meditate on this because of all the promises coming out of it

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63, 68-69‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

…Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32, 51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:49-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:21, 23-24‬ ‭

we want to meditate on what he said it creates faith in us to do so and changes our mind towards his ways and way from our old ways the gospel is meant to fill the mind , rule the conscience , and guide the life so we need to let it in and let it change our try inking about life to what Jesus said it is

Science and scripture agree that an anxious and stress filled mind cannot focus. To meditate is to focus. Science tells us stress and tension interfere with our ability to focus.

Scripture tells us not to let ancious thoughts in but keep to thoughts of good report. Phil 4:8. Being upset and anxious prevents us from being able to focus as is required of we meditate.

Do you have a method to bring love and peace to your mind so it is better able to focus?
