I just want to wake up some people that might have been put to sleep by the weak, milquetoast, limp soup-sandwich messages that I've heard in passing; because there are shepherds that are watering their sheep from a poisoned well.

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will strike you down, cut off your head, and give the carcasses of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.

This is what happens to the enemies of God when they don't repent. It's not a pretty sight. There's not a touchy-feely, heart-warming, hand-holding feeling for everyone at the end of the day... when people turn away from God's mercy, this is what they get- and if you don't like that you can go ahead and take it up with God.

I will empower my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”
These witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. If anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouths and devours their enemies. In this way, anyone who wants to harm them must be killed. These witnesses have power to shut the sky so that no rain will fall during the days of their prophecy, and power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish.

This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

No painless lethal injections; no formal polite firing squad; THEIR FLESH WILL ROT, AND THEY WILL BE DEVOURED BY FIRE.

This isn't a game, or a figure of speech- this is what happens. If you want to turn your ear away from that- that's on you. If you want to turn your congregation's ear away from that- then it's going to be on you sevenfold. Sugarcoat God's word, and you'll end up coated in molten sugar.

Jesus, Emmanuel God with us,is the same yesterday, today, forever and does not change?

Deuteronomy 19:19-21 then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party. You must purge the evil from among you. The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you. Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

Matthew 5:38-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Being devoured by fire is the result of not heeding Gods' word,

the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Jn.12:48

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD Jer.23:9

But rotting flesh is nothing new. That happens every day.

Isnt it about repenting and believing the gospel ? In other words do you live this way ?

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:27-38, 46-

Does this describe your life and your ways ? It’s Jesus words that will judge us so “repentance “ is to repent and believe the gospel “

what it doesn’t mean is “ become sinless first and then I’ll accept you “ what it does mean is forget the old behind you and believe the gospel in front of you

there’s really no way to complicate this it does t matter how much we know but how much we believe

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s as simple as repenting and believing the gospel but we don’t then stand beneath ten “ thou shalt nots “ and pretend we’ve repented instead we go to Jesus and learn from the lord about his ways like the small sample above from the lords words in luke

until we are walking the walk Jesus set before us “ lovong enemies , blessing those who curse you , forgiving not judging ect one might say “that’s a weak doctrine “ but no it’s tre lords doctrine and overcomes the world

We definately need to repent I agree but if we don’t accept and believe the gospel. Whatever repentance we muster is t going to help we need to let the gospel into moot heart and mind

“Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”
‭‭John‬ ‭7:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Its Jesus words we need to hear and keep

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus isn’t going to judge us by what Moses said in the law about sin but what he said in the gospel out salvstion and eternal life

Things like this is Gods word of salvstion to his children

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

My point is repentance is definately essential but some don’t understand what repentance is it is literally to “let your mind change”

“let your mind change and believe the gospel “

should we believe Moses law ? Or should we let our minds change and believe the gospel ?

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: ( what Moses said when offended )

but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”( what Jesus said to do when offended )
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

awe need to forget what we thought we knew out God and let Jesus create how we think about God and ourselves then we’ll know repentance and righteousness

if we’re focused on Jesus and the gospel we aren’t going to be walking in sin we’re going to be learning the truth from God about how to treat people

No, that's not weak doctrine; that's the Word.

should we believe Moses law ? Or should we let our minds change and believe the gospel ?
This kind of thinking is a simply a derivative of the Marcionite heresy. You don't repent from believing what is in the law- you repent from sin to believing God; including the Gospel. Just because were not trying to establish our own righteousness like the pharisees that doesn't mean we don't believe the law of Moses- not that it actually applies to us; but just because it doesn't apply to us, that doesn't mean that we don't believe it. How you and I understand "put in the hand of a mediator/ ordained by angels" is very very very different.

As I, and likely others have already explained many times on this forum, nobody had the right to just retaliate; these were instructions to judges and elders, and not Joe-Isrealite. Moses did not tell people they could knock someone's tooth out when offended.
Jesus, Emmanuel God with us,is the same yesterday, today, forever and does not change?
precisely.

But does it happen while people are still standing on their feet? I don't think the bible is talking about the dead skin that falls off and we barely notice; otherwise I don't think it would be called a plague... anyway, it sounds pretty nasty to me- and the point is, this does not sound like a pleasant experience.

I hope that's true; I can never tell. I don't really know that I made my point, but it was something along the lines of God's judgements being beyond what our modern western government considers to be "humane" or whatever. It's not necessarily that I think that government should cut off people's heads, plague people or burn them with fire- but I'm just saying that this is what happens to his enemies, and no one should try to hide this, or deny this and pretend its something more cuddly than what it is. It doesn't sound very "nice", and I think that's because it's not supposed to.

Thats right. God's justice is not nice. However i will say God's justice at least as long as you live, is designed to cause repentance.

"I am meek and lowly in heart."

Not sure what your saying here OP. Well yes that's what David said to the Philistine who (they) believed in Dagon I believe and later David joins them. "And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.". 1st Sam 17:43. Yeah was not about "don't repent".

"this is what happens. If you want to turn your ear away from that- that's on you." No this is what you said happens God never used those words or you would have quoted them. Its not talking about the righteous but the wicked. Just in case its not talking about any believer that might forget to repent. For God so loved the world He sent His only son. That was in play before the world was. He loves this world. All those wicked, evil, unrighteous are the reason He came. And its HIS creation were talking about. Maybe God has heart and cares about what HE made and how the ENEMY started all this and most no matter how evil are blind. Most I believe would be shocked at what God does for BILLIONS every day that do not believe in Him. His mercy and grace. Like one talking to Christ asked about this preacher that.. should be "judged and fire and brimstone" lol his words. Asked Christ why have you not done anything? Do you know what He said? "what about all the good he's doing?". Yeah its clear we don't know Him. He does this for you ever day. Sees the good and the bad? Its why He died.

To back that up incase one wonders " It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. ".

In truth I take with a grain of salt when some say they talked with Jesus. Yet ACTS is Christianity its the normal its what happens still up to this very hour. HAHA like the song saying more then once now "

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." my God is still the same" Praise God glory to Jesus. He does not use fear we do.

Most people do read such texts as a plague that rots flesh immediately (while they stand upon their feet) and that may be the correct way to see it, but it is also true in a sense that decomposition of body cells in living humans happens over time, so if we look at it from that angle, it's also true.
I was thinking along the lines of Isa.65:20, where it says,

the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

After the Messiah came, teaching eternal life, 100 years is regarded as a short life.
I heard Barbara Walters died recently. She was 93. Apart from the knowledge of Christ, that was a long life.

"this is what happens. If you want to turn your ear away from that- that's on you." No this is what you said happens God never used those words or you would have quoted them.
In both cases where I said 'this is what happens' it refers back to the previous scripture quoted. If you were referring to what I said at the end- yes that is what I said, and that is a figure of speech; but the rotting flesh and fire are not figures of speech for something less severe.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." my God is still the same" Praise God glory to Jesus. He does not use fear we do.
Jesus doesn't cheapen the Wrath of God- he even says "...he who does not believe is condemned...". To cheapen the severity of the wrath of God is also to cheapen the greatness of his mercy. That's basically the point of my post.
