There are many misconceived ideas about what actually took place in the bible.

For example, many believe that Adam and Eve ate an apple, when the bible doesn't say. Or that Jesus died on Friday and was raised on Sunday. How do you get three days and nights out of that. My wife figured that one out when she was just 6 years of age.
Would anybody else like to give some misconceptions that took place in the bible?

I'll have to think about it for awhile, but yes I would.

it is well known they didn't eat an apple. it is quite possible any one of a few other fruits, if it was the fruit of a tree that they did eat in disobedience.

It might have been a unique type of tree that we have never seen, but we have all tasted the fruit

What about Jonah being swallowed by a whale?

Of course he was swallowed by a whale. You don't think he was?

Friday to Sunday is three days if you take into account the cultural context.

a lot of people seem to think that Jesus never called anyone out over their sin, and that He just gave out hugs and notes of commendation to everyone that rejected Him.

not so.

Good post sir.
The same God, who IS love, is the same God that casts the wicked into an eternal lake of fire.
He is both loving to the righteous and severe to the wicked and sinners.

What happened to the third night?
They didn't have to be three complete 24-hour days to be considered three days in that culture.

Gen. 1:3 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

The evening was the beginning of the day. Jesus died at noon, thus previous day. We'd call that Day Friday. The Jews would not. (I don't know the Hebrew names of the week, but in our language it would be Thursday.

So Jesus died on Thursday. 1.
He stayed dead on Friday. 2.
He stayed dead for half of Sunday. 3.

2.5 - 2.75 days? Round it up and...

Misconception -- we think days start at midnight.

Misconception -- we think Eve talked to a snake. (Might not have even been a serpent.)

Misconception -- We think Noah and his family were in that boat for 40 days. Nope. 13 months.

Misconception -- Sodom and Gomorrah were well salted for homosexual sin. Nope. All kinds of sin.

Misconception -- the Israelites were worshiping a golden calf as another God. Nope. They just wanted something to represent the God on the mountain with Moses right above them. They simply didn't believe or played some kind of game about that commandment of no images. God made them swallow the calf though after it was grounded to dust.

Misconception -- the Israelites were shepherds. Some were. Others were fine craftmans. Despite not fighting for 440 years, they also knew how to swing a blade well. They probably got their armor and weapons from dead Egyptians that washed up on the shores.

Misconception -- Man can't live in a fish for a day, once more three days. There have been two confirmed cases in the last 120 years where a man was swallowed by a fish and then regurgitated near land a day later. Another case where a man was swallowed by a whale rescued, by accident, by another boat close to two days later. (They didn't know a man was in the whale, but they wanted, and got, that whale.)

Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Luk 23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
Luk 23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
Luk 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Take into consideration that Jesus was still alive after 9 o'clock at night. So that day was already spent. And He said He would be in the center of the earth for three days and three nights, as in the evening and morning was one day.

No. Jonah was swallowed by a big sea creature.

Actually the Hebrew word used is דָּג which the KJV correctly renders 'fish'; though in common usage דָּג may refer to any sea creature. In any case, we are told that this particular creature was especially prepared by God for this task.

there are a lot in error on this . 3 days and 3 nights is written, and cannot be changed.

the so-called 'cultural' context? was corrupted early on by hasatan and always also through the rcc.

to find the truth, you'll have to go to the correct 'cultural context' that few here know,(and few gentiles know anywhere)

or as your wife discovered when she was six, yahweh can reveal the truth to you simply from HIS WORD, even in english! (by revelation, which is required anyway also) .

tintin and several others here refuse to accept yahweh's WORD about this.

there is too much error here to properly correct it, not just in the information here, but in the environment (gentile unbelievers).

however, I think it was addressed shortly in a few other threads, and if

here or elsewhere, in yahweh's WORD, you seek from ABBA the TRUTH, and keep seeking, he will show you, if he wants to. (he is the one who decides).
