We all have read and understand how in the Old Testament they bowed down to idols mainly images made by men's hands. I am would like to see what others thought on our idols of this day and time would be that came before God? God revealed to me that I had some in my life that I never thought would be and it has taken a long time to tear some of them down.

Please expand on this as to what idols in today's time could be?

God Bless

An idol is something man made that takes the place of God. God gave Israel the Sabbath while those that worship the sun did it on the first day which they called the day of the sun. So it took the place of true worship and many times in the Bible Israel fell into apostasy and worshiped idols. This is just 1 example I am sure there would be many more.

Seems like a lot of people worship their country more than god, or a political party more than god. They also like to say god agrees with their idols so they are able to worship their idols and think its ok.

I understand the definition of idols in a christian context to mean: Anything we have allowed into our life that is a higher priority than God

An idol is when you worship the creature more than the Creator, be it through the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, or the pride of life.

Loving God is the first commandment, then loving others come second. When someone loves others more than God, then you have a problem, and it is more than likely that this "love" in loving others more than God is really lust.

This following verse shows how lust, wantonness, & covetousness is idolatry.

Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Here is a big one in this country (USA) FOOTBALL!

Even the pastors in the churches have made this a god in there lives.
When the pastors and preachers open up there service with talk of football you know what is the god of that congrigation.
When people sit in there church service thinking how they can't wait to get home to catch the game.
You know what there god is.
When everyone in the church fellowship hall is talking about the game they watched last Sunday and Thursdays game.
And not one mention of God or Jesus in the conversation ever.
You know what there god is.

Every church I have ever been a part of God and Jesus has never been a part of the conversation between members of those congregation before or after the service.

Football is not an idol. I rather enjoy my Chicago Bears on sundays.

Idols are the work of mens hands that the following generations continue to bow down to.

Now if God is not in the building to begin with, why believe "football" is a pastor's hours because he opens his sermon up with it?

Now christianity, islam, hinduism, buddhism and judaism are idols. These was here long before we got here, and will be here probably long after a lot of us leave. These are some of the things we bow to as they cut out what a "perfect" man should be, all the while no man fitting that image.

We are made in Gods's image and not the system we made to rule us!

Anything that is a priority in a persons life ahead of God is an idol. God is to be first in our lives before all else.

So how do you show your love for God? How is He shown to be #1 priority in your life?
Ever day I start my day with God, in prayer and thanksgiving, before my feet even hit the floor. I go through my day always making melody to the LORD and talking to others about him and his love for us. Always giving him thinks for all things in my life each day. I read and study his word every day. I end my day with God in prayer and thanksgiving. I wake up at night with God on my mind and in my dreams. My thoughts are always on God and what he wants from me.

I make these sacrifices to God every day.

Hebrews 13:15-16 (KJV)
15 By him therefore
let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Everything I do in this life God has given me I do by his guidance.

I do not make a desision on a matter without consulting the LORD for guidance and instruction.

Every thing I do I do unto the LORD seeking how I might bring Glory to his name, seeking to Glorify him in all that I do and say.

God is my life! He is my way of LIFE!

John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Now how does that differ from the muslim who does the same? Names here are as polluted as the religions using them.

We no longer know Jesus by the flesh. We only use that name to associate to others of whom we are speaking about.

I ask you that having rose from the dead, what is His name now?

Yahvah God sent Yahshua the Messiah into the world so that we can be forgiven make our peace and be reconciled with our Heavenly Father.

We all must come to the Light which is Love and Truth.

The Light is not in sun, moon, or whatever else they all be worshiping....

What is abominable to Yahvah God is recorded in the Bible.

Through Faith in Yahshua the Messiah we can be born again of the Holy Spirit to worship in Spirit and Truth.

islam is created from mans rejection of the Truth.

If Yahvah God said Isaac then it is so.

a person who partakes in islamic worship is no different to any other religion that does not accept the New Covenant of Yahvah God through Yahshua the Messiah.

All make idols for themselves based on what they want instead of accepting the Truth.

All things come to pass leading to the Harvest.

If a person seeks with a willing heart they will find Him.

Repent is to change one must be willing to turn from all things.

There is an evil Rebellion taking place in front of us and no "religion" is free from corruption.

Now many will say well "how do you know you are right" it is not about the creation being right, but the creation knowing that the Creator is always Good and True.

All this all roads lead is not True.

The Messiah said:

Matthew 7

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Isaiah 48

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.
2For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

3I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

4Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

5I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

6Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

7They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

8Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

9For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

12Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

13Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

14All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

15I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

16Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

17Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

18O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

19Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

20Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

21And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

22There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

We must not look at it this way. Even christianity sells crosses. So do not focus on the religion of islam, but the man who calls himself a muslim.

Remember the ONLY way to determine a person's love for God is how he treats his neighbor.

An idol is just something you worship. So, basically it can be anything in your life you put above God, it could be some piece of Technology, cars, any hobbies, relationships with people, work, religion, just about anything really. If you just take the time to look at what you do everyday it should be pretty obvious, because you will be doing this and your heart will be more for this rather than for God.

One idol, that is the most dangerous, is money.
Mostly because one can become money's servant, without even realising it.
We need to work in order to eat, have a place to live,ect..., but money seems to demand more of us blinding us to it's controll.
Money is an idol that I believe we all need to careful of.
Always resting God's care, trusting in His provision, so as not to become a slave to the money idol.

Thankyou Lord God for all your care and provision.

God bless

The Great commandment given by the Messiah is:

Matthew 22

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The man who calls himself a muslim must Repent and Come out of that religion like the man that calls himself a catholic should do also... and so on.

The God of Abraham is True and Faithful and through Faith in Yahshua the Messiah man can be born again of the Holy Spirit to Worship in Spirit and Truth.

It is sad to see the deception that many are under.

The Light shows the darkness that before i knew not.

i believe the Bible front to back Old and New and that i will believe in unto death if that is my calling.

Glory to Almighty Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

How can a man demonstrate his love for God if he hasn't seen Him?

Even for us who hold faith in Jesus, it is not by sight.

So that great commandment is to be discerned by the second which is SIMILAR.

To love your neighbor AS YOURSELF.

Did not Jesus say that to do unto the LEAST of His brethren is to do unto Him?

Then the bottom line of this minset is that if you see YOURSELF saved, then see EVERYONE ELSE the same! This is perfect love as God also commands the sun to shine and the rain to fall on both the good and the bad.

Our Heavenly Father deserve all to worship in Spirit and Truth forever and ever.

I pray i stay faithful to he that is Faithful and True always and Forever.

It is not my words that condemn those who do not make peace with their Creator through Faith in Yahshua the Messiah.

I believe all that is written and this does not equate to hate on my behalf but Love for He that Speaks it and then it shall be.

If i then become an enemy to those who do not believe then so be it, i will love them and call for mercy for them.

Now then you ask how one Loves their God...

Below you will find the answer that the Messiah summarized with Love.

There is no taking away from the idea that one can Love their God and not their Neighbour.

It is a witness for us that the Love of God is within us when we share the Love with others.

We shine His Light from within us on those who are without, it may be they are dazzled and seek the Light.

Now then we must not share anything but the Truth and the whole Truth.

To be reconciled with Heavenly Father one is to accept Yahshua the Messiah into their heart and adhere to all he spoke on behalf of His Father.

i'm not going partake in anything that even if it seems loving goes against or takes out of context what is written.

Exodus 20

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
