In other writings this guy, Melton, actually says: Moral or Christian music is music "that sounds good." Whatever the heck THAT might mean. Sounds like an Old Fogey who only approves of music that he happens to like, for sure.
Eric Clapton plays moral music? And they say you can't learn anything new on the Internet.

(I am an old fogey. I just don't demand others join me.
Do you dig the ancient headset? lol)

This is what Melton recommends in music. They can harmonize but are often flat on their notes. So I guess perfection in singing doesn't pertain to his favorite singers.

What a bunch of garbage this "article" (or should I say "propoganda") is.

First, let me state that I think Frank Garlock's music is awful! Stuck in the 1880s along with his ancient mind-set of what music is. I would choose a Getty/Townend hymn over a Garlock hymn ANY day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Listen, I'm the first to say that we need to only choose the best music for our worship and there is a lot modern stuff that is dreadful, but there is a lot of moldy-oldie baptist hymns that should NEVER be resurrected.

One can not dump all of any one specific genre of music simply because there of some of that genre that are poorly written or even inappropriate for worship. This is why we need trained musicians in the church. Trained musicians can spot the garbage without making a judgment on an entire genre.

I can't find a link to any of his music. Does he sing? Saw nothing but preaching on youtube

I don't know if he sings. He and his buddy, Ron Hamilton, wrote a hymnal together -- a lot of the "standards" and a ton of their own hymns (which are generally banal rehashes of the older style of baptist hymn).

You know its interesting that music is not really addressed in the New Testament other than Paul using very general terms.

nawww, just a bit uncreative. Reminds me of the 'ol song "Why should the devil have all the good music?" ...Christians have to end up copying :(
