However I do question why protestants kept some of the false catholic inventions while throwing out most.
That could be an interesting discussion..which false catholic inventions?

The Roman Catholic church is an abomination to God....I'm going to be sincere about it(I'm not saying I hate Catholics, I'm saying I HATE their doctrines).....There is nothing Godly about that group....They teach a salvation by works.....They confess sins to the Pope.....Who gave the pope ANY authority over Christ? There needs to be a BIG warning against the Roman Catholic Church...They blatantly disobey and go against numerous Scriptures...More than I could list on one post.....Why not research them if you so wish......Here's a good start:

Now to be on topic.....Mormons disobey Revelation 22:18-19: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

They add their own revelations to the Word of God....They teach salvation by works....They teach many other false doctrines found nowhere in the Word....

Hey all i want to thank you for the response to this thread because that was exactly what i was looking for. The sites i am going to give a look at as well for a bit more info on this.

It does seem that what goes on with these people and their beliefs is done behind closed doors and cannot be trusted, especially after getting a little insight as to their beliefs, but i will not go any further until i have at least taken the time to look into it more.

Thanks again for all of your feedback.

roaringkitten, anyone can put anything on internet sites, and that Jesus-is-savior one is not christian, it's sensationalist. The scary background music should make this obvious. So no, it's not a "good site".

Mahogony....The Catholic church is an ABOMINATION to God........Ever seen the upside down cross next to the Pope?(I have on TV)......The upside down cross is a satanic symbol, a mockery of Jesus sacrifice on the cross.....I'm just warning the Christian church.........I am willing to stand in the direct line of insults to protect Christianity from false religions as the Roman Catholic church.....

BTW, I only take what any site says with the Word of God......I dont blindly follow whatever the surf button hits up....There are a bunch of Christianity sites that exist that are in fact not Christian.......The Word of God condemns any and all religions that attack the purity of the Word of God and salvation.....

I agree , by the way it was the Catholics that create the doctrine of the Trinity. So all you protestants that worship this doctrine over God Himself, think again.

By the way roaring, I think you should start a thread.

roaringkitten, the upside down cross is the cross of St Peter. It is thought that Peter asked to be crucified on an upside down cross, because he felt unworthy to be crucified the same way as Christ. This symbol is used to represent humility and unworthiness compared to Christ.
I think I'd rather discuss this with someone who knows something about the R. C. Church, rather that someone who gets all their information from muck-raking sensationalist websites.

Of course it was Catholics, who else would it be? The gnostic heretics?
How many denominations were there in the early centuaries?
Dude, study some church history before making rediculous claims.

Take your own advice, speaking on things that you do not know about only make you look foolish.

Ahem...

So...Mormonism...

I was wondering, was it Joseph Smith himself that wrote the Book of Mormon? Obviously it wasn't around before him...

I should probably already know this, sorry if that was a silly question.

Joseph Smith claimed to have a vision. That is a the main player in mormonism. The Word of God needs no further "visions" other than the Word itself....

There is some evidence to support the theory that the Book of Mormon is a plagiarized work based on Solomon Spaulding's writings.

This is a "christian chat", which for me means, a place for brothers and sisters in the Lord, but all I see is you guys fighting. I mean, you should stop and rethink the things you are saying, you are kinda hurting each other, for I dont think that judging is correct, I mean easygoing had a doubt, lets stick to that. And please define me the word christian, because for all I see you guys just excluded catholic and latter days saints from that concept. For me, anyone from any religion that has a pure heart and follows the Lord Jesus Christ and loves Him above anything else, and follows Him, and devotes for Him and lives in a honorable way can be called a christian.

The Best advice anyone can give you is STAY AWAY FROM THE MORMON church. I speak thru experience. I was fooled into becoming a mormon and even lived in Salt Lake City, UT. for 6 yrs. I don't want to bash anyone in particular so I won't talk about my experiences there. I will say however that before I joined I had to make a Promise that I would attend thier church every week, as well as give 10% of my income as thithes. Whenever I needed help, the first thing that I was asked is, "Are you a Full Thithe payer?" When I had a question about something that made the person I was speaking to uncomfortable because he couldn't answer it, I was told that my testimony is weak.
In thier services they spend more time saying that the mormon church is true, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God more than talking about the Lord. They also believe, and say that Nephi had taken his family across the ocean to the American continent. Which, according to thier beliefs is the ancestors of the American Indians.
If any member openly questions the mormon beliefs/practices, that person is threatened with excommunication.
This happened a few years ago (I cannot remember the year) when someone announced that he had DNA evidence that the indians were descendants of the asians and not people from the middle east. The person I refer to was, if i remember correctly, had a PhD or some other degree. In any Case, he was a professional in his field of study. He was also a member of the mormon church.
If joining the mormon church is something you are thinking about doing, I strongly advise against it. But that is your decision so before you make that commitment then at least research them as thouroughly as you can.

Best wishes to you,
Terry

Is just sad what I read here, so very sad. I never thought Id read so many offesive comments from good people. Why?
Go to lds.org easygoing, we have your answers there, but more than anything, when you read, dont ask anyone about what you read, ask the very Lord, and He shall give you the answer you need. You can talk to me whenever you want.
