Not a trick question.

Matt 28
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.[SUP]19 [/SUP]Go therefore[SUP][c][/SUP] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [SUP]20 [/SUP]teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.[SUP][d]

The above verses seem to indicate there may come a time when all nations are discipled, baptized and obedient to Jesus, and it's his followers job to accomplish that. If that is true, how do we go about accomplishing it?
[/SUP]
"Go make disciples of all nations" could be translated " Go make disciples of all peoples (ethnics), for the greek word used for nations is Ethnos, Strongs G1486, a race. We know from other scriptures that Jesus taught to preach to the Jew first and then to the gentiles. We know from Paul, he was specifically called by Christ to take the Gospel to the gentiles. IMO, Matt. 28:18-20 has been fulfilled and is being fulfilled until the 2nd coming of Christ. To translate "ethnos" as "nations" and suggest some how or some when ALL governing NATIONS will be under some sort of Christendom is IMO a gross misinterpretation of this passage and other passages that seem to suggest otherwise (which is a constant struggle between good and evil).

BTW at one time we had a sort of Christendom rule under the RCC, how did that work out for us?

Just do what Jesus did...there's no greater way or example to spread the word

John 14:12 KJV

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Luke 9:23 KJV

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

going into all the world is a tall order for any individual. some of us aren't that mobile. the only way to accomplish it is to 'bloom where you are' as the first step and then to reach beyond your limited realm of influence through the ministry of others. financial support and prayer for those ministries is probably the easiest way to do that. reaching out to the world with the message itself is far easier now than it has ever been though and with the advent of the personal computer even an individual with limited mobility can reach farther than they ever could before. once the kingdom has been preached in the entire world then the end of this age will come followed by our Lord's return. we are getting very close to accomplishing that even with the diverse teachings of multiple denominations as the basic message of salvation through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus is the basic theme of most. that it hasn't been accomplished yet is evidenced by the fact that the end of the age and Christ's return haven't taken place yet. prayer is key. we must continue to ask that the kingdom message be advanced and to also ask that we be found worthy to escape the coming wrath.

What are some things we can do on a daily basis to bring God's kingdom into this world...?
Good question.

The Prince of Peace,Jesus Christ said: Be ye seeking foremost the kingdom of God and his justice /righteousness... (Matthew 6:33)

The bold Pentecost preacher, Peter talked about: ...Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God... (2 Peter 3:12)

John the Baptist prepared the way for the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (Isaiah 40:3;Luke 3:4). The prophecies of Isaiah often apply to both to a near and far fulfillment. We can all be do our part to be like John the Baptist in our generations and prepare the way for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3).

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. (Luke 3:4)

"...it was binding upon Christ to suffer, and to rise from among the dead the third day and for it to be proclaimed in His Name the message of repentance and remission of sins unto all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. And you all are witnesses of these things. " (Luke 24:46-48)

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.(Matthew 24:14)

what i can do is helping the poor people and the aged. they suffer so much, and if God is love, then we ought to show what we are made of

well, it is saying make disciples of men from among all the nations.

we know about preaching the Gospel i hope. and we know about baptizing i hope.

the question then i guess is what does making disciples mean/involve?

"teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you"

...

just getting the convert safe in sound teaching is one thing to do.
another is trying to identify the false teachings that abound and counter them.

seems like it's just like it was from the beginning - there is a flock, and the idea is the Lord adds to the number.
we preach the Gospel and the apostle's doctrine and keep out the wolves.

the church is for believers...unbelievers come out of the world and into the church.
as opposed to what some groups do - mingling believers with unbelievers.
but we already talked about that kinda.

Isaiah 1:19

"If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;"

This was said to the Israelites in Jerusalem (the northern kingdom was already dispersed at this point). Can we gleam some insight from this and apply it to us today? If we are willing and obedient will not our lives and our circumstances in general, look more like God's Kingdom? This is not to say that we won't have hardships, trials, tribulations, heartaches but if Christians pull together work towards loving one an other like the Lord has loved us, would God pour out His blessings through us (making His Kingdom a stronger and more powerful reality?)

being vegetarian helps, trying to live on earth the way God intended. God gave us the perfect diet in genesis 1:29, then in Isaiah the diet is the same, God said they will not hurt or destroy in ALL His Holy Mountain. Trying to live on earth as we will in Heaven is a good start.

I'm not talking some hokey Jehovah's witness gobbly-guck.
This is something I'm really wrestling with and could use some input on.

What are some things we can do on a daily basis to bring God's kingdom into this world, and bring about transformative change so things in our sphere of influence are closer to conforming to God?
I think we need to be careful here and have some patience. The Lord has a path he wants us to walk. If we follow that path, we will accomplish what he wants us to accomplish.

I think sometimes we get too eager to accomplish good, and we stray from that path, trying to do things WE think are good, but falling short of what the LORD wants us to accomplish.

As the Bible approaches the last verse, we find this: ...Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Yes, come, Lord Jesus, come. May thy kingdom come. May thy will be done on earth as it is heaven. Let knees bow and tongues confess. Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end. Let righteousness and justice be established. Come, Lord Jesus.

I think it can be simpler than we make it out to be ; "Abide in me and I in you.As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me."(John 15:4)

In my own life, I have often been surprised how God has been touching others through what I have said, done or gone through. From the feed back that I have gotten - it was often through actions or words that I had forgotten about - or been casual about that touched peoples lives.By this, I know that it was God working THROUGH me - or even in SPITE of me - for the good of others and for His own glory and eternal purposes.
