This has NEVER been answered.

By you or anyone else.

It can't be answered in Jesus' word because Jesus never said any such words.

If He did, someone will have to show it.
~Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives as the Messiah loved the church and gave himself for it,

Eph 5:26 so that he might make it holy by cleansing it, washing it with water and the word,

Eph 5:27 and might present the church to himself in all its glory, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind, but holy and without fault.

This is a marriage. We are His bride, and He is our groom. We submit to His will, and carry out His work but by the power of Holy Spirit within...the friend of the groom.

Living, moving, having our being in Him. He doesn't demand...He loves, and we love in return.

I never said we would not accomplish works. But, my definition of works may be different than others.

It was this post that I said would answer.

I prefer English to English.
I think the translators did a good job and we don't need to help them along. There's only one important word that is translated without its full meaning because of our language and that's BELIEVE.

And I do like Jesus' words MORE than anyone else's.
After all, HE IS GOD.
Yes, and He speaks to men. Like catching up Paul and giving him revelation. Are those words His or not? Surely you aren't of that movement against Paul?

and if you want to stick to English, don't be upset when others study what the words said in English actually mean.

I know all this Bill.

Some here are saying that WORKS DO NOT SAVE OR KEEP SAVED.

They are implying that WORKS ARE NOT NECESSARY.

JESUS said that we're to do what HE commanded.

It's not right to say that works are not necessary, they ARE.

If one is not saved, of course works are of no value...
But we're speaking about saved people here.

So, bottom line, are works necessary or not?
Could we go happily along and DO NOTHING and say we're still saved because we believe in Jesus?

NO.

Works are a result of being saved and loving our Lord.
But we must have works ---- if we don't, what does that say?

So, you see. It's better to say that works ARE necessary.
Some here constantly say they are NOT.
I would say works do not keep us saved but works are evidence of being saved. Although I would say we need to be very careful as to what works and the level of works that evidence faith.

To say just believe and all is ok and nothing is required to me is not right.
Paul dealt with this in Romans 5-6.

So to me works are not necessary for salvation but as a result of salvation.
The point to me is what is necessary for salvation? Faith alone, nothing more and nothing less.
Then works will follow.

What really worries me and disturbs me and I will always bang on about this if someone is not walking in works, firstly we are judging and secondly we write them off as unbelievers. With no regard to what the issue is.

I have come across people who actually feel that God won't use them because they are not worthy, I'm a dirty sinner oh well want hope is there for me?

if somoene said that to you how would you respond?

You are terribly confused Stephen. What happened was you repeatedly falsely accused me and then told us you could admit it if you were wrong but then refused to admit you were wrong and continued to insert yourself (like a good little narcissist) into what I had said when I was not even thinking of you. You have been proven to be a liar many times over :)
Projection will get you nowhere, dear.:)

no one has been able to tame the tongue.... have you just checking ?
Getting better at it. Grew up with asthma....so breathing was more important than speaking most the time.

Think God helps keeps me from sinning....if I get too emotional, I get an asthma attack so no tongue wagging...

It's odd how often he talks about sock puppets. I never even knew what that was until he went on and on and on about it. It was funny when he talked about people with an "S" on their shirt, like he would somehow be excluded when his very name starts with an "S."
Amazing how you can recall some things that happened months ago like it was yesterday.

Did you get that off a server, or are you holding grudges?

Yes, it is the works of the Spirit of God in us, and not the works of the flesh. We can so easily see the works of the flesh when people like Fran falsely accuse others and pretend they should be listened to while they constantly reject any need of hearing others. Since Fran has said she will mention people's names at will, she should not complain that others do the same :)
People Like Fran
Falsely Accuse Others
Pretend We Should Be Listened To
We Reject Hearing Others
Fran Complains

And yet you start your diatribe with this:

Yes, it is the works of the Spirit of God in us,

Yes Ma'am. You certainly have the spirit of God working in you.
That's some mighty odd fruits you've got there,
But whateva you think, MUST BE CORRECT.

Many on this thread are confused.

But Stephen is not one of them.

And I'm sure he won't be upset that you called him a liar.

Everyone that does not agree with you is a liar.
So the word has lost all meaning---thanks to you !!
