Wow that takes me back. I used to sing it when I was a nipper.

Another favourite of mine was

  1. O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend;
    I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway if Thou wilt be my Guide.
  2. Oh, let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still,
    I dare not trust my judgment: Thy way shall be my will;
    Oh, speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
    Oh, speak, and help me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul.
  3. O Jesus, Thou hast promised to all who follow Thee
    That where Thou art in glory there shall Thy servant be;
    And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end—
    Oh, give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.
  4. Oh, let me see Thy footprints, and in them plant mine own;
    My hope to follow duly is in Thy strength alone;
    Oh, guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end;
    And then in Heav’n receive me, my Savior and my Friend.
Thanks for bringing back the memories

Good morning all :)

This song is playing in my mind this day...

I spent quite a while trying to find a version that matches what I hear in my soul... here are some others that may be somewhat close :D

^^ This one is the royal family; I am watching The Crown,
currently, so this fits for that reason :)

^^ Though this is a solo, it is still nice.
It is a full choir singing in my mind :)

Yep love music with a natural grove; added bonus, 1957 Fender Stratocaster. My first gitar was an imitation strat; could not afford the real deal making a dollar an hour at Mom and Dad's restaurant - Fender Strat, finest instrument created on God's Green Earth. Our band would enter middle school and High school battle of the bands - took a third place one time only. It is not the winning of a contest that pushes you forward to study and learn, but the emotional expression of the heart through music.
Loved' my old imitation Strat, wonder where it is now.

Today I have a 2014 Martin Dreadnought (sitting beside me), DM X series, with electronics hidden under the bridge and inside the sound box; The one thing that sets bluegrass instrumentation apart from other forms of music is, no electricity, except for amplification of the true acoustic sound. Blue grass joke #1 how many bluegrasser's does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: one, and 10 people to stand around and contemplate electricity. Love all forms of good music thanks for your post'
Remember this when playin', "pretty good isn't good at all." :)

God bless

Hi all...I do not believe we will ever know while walking on this earth how much our Father God really loves us...It is one thing to speak His love from our lips, but when we are on our own and tears are flowing, family have no idea who you are anymore because they are lost and we are found, when our hands our covering our faces while the tears pour, we hear these words " I will NEVER leave you nor forsake you " :)...If i was still attached to my unsaved family, my heart would break, last night I truly came to realize what cold hearts mean :(...When times are hard, I turn to Him, my Savior, my Lord, my everything...His promises are truth, I am sealed in Him, who in their right mind would want to walk away, I will run to Him, I am saved and my Faith in Him has grown today, why, because I trusted, leaned and relied on Him, today I am walking tall because He has restored me...What a wonderful thing to be a child of God...Thank you Jesus...xox...
I have a slightly different understanding because of the way I have experienced God, even while I was still running from Him in disobedience, rebellion, and defiance. I consider myself to have been lost at that time from my present perspective, but God knew exactly where I was. This was twenty nine years ago. My marriage had broken down following two first-trimester miscarriages, and a still birth that occurred less than two weeks before the nuptials. I was also weighed down with unresolved issues from my past that I had been unable to deal with/put "closure" on. It was coming up to Passover, and a neighborhood evangelical Christian church was showing a movie on the life of Christ based on the Gospel of Luke. I had been brought up in a fairly strict religious environment, which I had rebelled against at a fairly young age, and I did not know Jesus. Living in a world of unremitting emotional pain, I was curious to know Who He was, and I went over two weeks to watch the movie, and also attended Sunday services. As I sat in that church after seeing the first or second part of that movie, I am not sure at what point the following happened: my whole body was filled with the Light of God's unconditional love and forgiveness for me and all I had done, all the ways I had messed up my life, all my failures and mistakes, all of it bathed in the Light of His absolute understanding of how and why I had become the person I was, all of it illuminated in the Light of His unconditional love and total forgiveness. I wept. I felt so broken and so lost and so unredeemable, but most of all I felt unworthy. And of course I am unworthy.

Even after that, though it was a cherished experience in my heart, even after that I did not believe in "that" God. I had begun a spiritual seeking phase, and carried on in that for another fifteen years,
becoming a professionally practicing pagan and studying with shamans, until God again unmistakably revealed Himself to me, and clearly called me out of what I was doing. And yes, even after that, even after that clear calling out, my stiff-necked stubbornness was so set against Him it took another year following the calling out for me to lay down my opposition to Him, and surrender my life to Him.

Sorry, I disagree.....the entrance into rest and the means of entry are consistently the same for all.......the entire nation of Israel were brought out of the Egypt by the same action of faith, applying the blood, the entire nation was brought to the promise land by the same faith and the entire nation was informed to enter by faith in the fact that God would drive out the inhabitants by his power.

Faith for one, faith for all and the end result is the same.
Well...okay then. Some men have different struggles and talk about them. They are able to move past going over the basics again and again. I think I've about talked myself out in this thread, but thank you for it! :)

No need to be rude and make pointed mouthy remarks because I disagree and make a point.....this attitude is what causes most strife on this site.....and there are a few that cannot help but deride, chide and mouth every time they disagree....and I thought I approached you decent and in order...thanks anyway!

I like Ibanez a lot; took care of one for a friend one time for a few months and of course I had to keep it in tune. If you detune the strings of an acoustic guitar for short time storage it can bow the neck, (trust rod or not) and then your "intonation" will be off a little. Did you know that you can set your guitar w/case aside, next to you, at the check-in desk, at the airport. After your suit case has been checked in you can continue on through security and then boarding. If the nice person at the luggage check point ask's you about the guitar in hand, explain that it is an expensive instrument and you need to guard it at all times. (use your own words of course). If she say's sure okay then you can consider this your carry on baggage. If not then you will have to check it in as luggage, up up and away.

I will check out Jackson and Alvarez Acoustic on the internet; you lost me on the, "ZOOM digital effects processor peddle with 40 built in drum beats to keep time." I have a small electronic metronome with various settings and sounds. My next purchase on my wish list is for a, digital recording and sound over for play back so I can layer voice over instrument and critique the play back, ouch that hurts a lot. Is any of this of biblical importance, yes of course it is....:)

To get anywhere in life one has to extend an effort (common sense). There is no difference when it comes to working out your own salvation. Yes God does “energio”/energies that effort with the power of grace, but it’s you who must do the work of faith..Philip. 2-12,13 same thing as Eph. 2:8,9,10……................let no man deceive you, he that does righteousness is righteous, and he that sins is of the devil. In this are we either adopted into the family of God, or of Satan, we chose our own parents by our works done in faith…Jesus talked about the great effort that is necessary, and counting the cost, even before we get started…the cost to build on the Rock is conditionally a high one, and the cost to build on a shotty foundation is not …kinda like building to an electrical code and building material specs. Put in the effort to build it to code on a strong foundation, or use cheap and easy wiring, and suffer the consequences, in that you will reap what you sow as the whole house will burn down……..be blessed

I should have put perished in quotes in "it 'perished' in the heart of soil #2" to avoid the misunderstanding. What happens is the soil expels the word. And so in that way the word perishes:The soil is the problem. Not the word of God.
very true, and Paul said they receive grace in vain...

The Bible clearly states that human beings cannot achieve righteousness through their own efforts: "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin." (Romans 3:20, NIV). The law, or the Ten Commandments, shows us how far we fall short of God's standards. The only solution to that dilemma is God's plan of salvation.

People receive righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Christ, the sinless Son of God, took humanity's sin upon Himself and became the willing, perfect sacrifice, suffering the punishment mankind deserved. God the Father accepted Jesus' sacrifice, through which human beings can become justified. In turn, believers receive righteousness from Christ.

This doctrine is called imputation. Christ's perfect righteousness is applied to imperfect humans. The Old Testament tells us that because of the sin of Adam, we, his descendants, have inherited his sinful nature. God set up a system in Old Testament times in which people sacrificed animals to atone for their sins. The shedding of blood was required. When Jesus entered the world, things changed. His crucifixion and resurrection satisfied God's justice.

Christ's shed blood covers our sins. No more sacrifices or works are required. The Apostle Paul explains how we receive righteousness through Christ in the book of Romans. Salvation through this crediting of righteousness is a free gift, which is the doctrine of grace. Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus is the essence of Christianity. No other religion offers grace. They all require some type of works on behalf of the participant.

In James chapter 2, James says three times that faith without works is dead. James 2:17 James to 2:20 and James 2:26.
God's word is the highest authority.

God's word is the highest authority.
And context deems that he is not saying faith plus works saves.......

Paul said a man was justified by FAITH WITHOUT works..........!!

A new creation shown in how we live.

Listening to some this new creation is still there even when their life denies it.
That is ludicrous. A loving husband loves, if they hate they are no longer loving.

true Peter...............the covenant relationship is often compared to a marital covenant in the text

it would seem to some that if the wife prepared an evening meal for her returning husband, while cleaning the house, washing the laundry, and making everything ready, then the husband comes home and asks; what are you doing? You know you cant please me because all of your works are as filthy rags:confused:
