Not of yourselves (Eph. 2: 8)
God choose us before the world was created (Eph. 1: 3); out of love He gave his Son to die for us (John 3: 16): He sent the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16: 8- 11); He calls us and draws us to Him by the gospel (2 Thess. 2: 14; John 6: 44); we deny ourselves because Jesus provided the perfect example of self-denial and we are admonished to have the same attitude (Philip. 2: 5- 8); we believe because He opens our heart to respond in faith Acts 16: 14); we are begotten by God through the exercise of His will (John 1: 12, 13); we love because He first loved us (1 John 4: 19); we have hope because Jesus arose from the dead (1 Pet. 1: 3); we are led to repentance by the goodness and kindness of God (Rom. 2: 4); we obey because of faith in God and love for God (Rom. 1: 5; John 14: 15); we receive the Spirit of God as a promise and as a gift (Acts 2: 38, 39); we are born of both water and Spirit because we have been baptized in water in the name of Christ for the forgiveness of sin and we have been baptized in the Spirit by Christ Jesus our Lord (John 3: 5; Acts 2: 38, 39; 1 Cor. 12: 13); we are children of God by faith through baptism because He gave us the right to become children of God (Gal. 3: 26, 27; John 1: 12, 13) God bless.
