The word was probably Chestnut and you will find it in Ezk 31.. where God compares Nations to the Mighty Tree of Assyria or the Cedar Tree of Lebanon. You will find that He is comparing other trees in the Garden of Eden against the tree of Assyria.

Note: in the NKJV and other versions the word has been changed to Chestnut.. However, in the KJV the word is Chesnut. This was the tree in the Garden of Eden who's branches could not compare to the mighty (cedar) tree of Assyria (Ezk 31:7-9).

From what I can tell it had nothing to do with Noah. The wood used for the ARK was Gopher Wood.

from what i can tell it has nothing to do with KJV

Is the story of Noah literal or allegorical?
Sure it's allegorical. No actually it is just a legend. Wait a minute, it could even be a fairy tale. Or pure fantasy.

Seriously, how could it be allegorical since an allegory must represent something else.

An old chestnut (an idea, joke, story, or subject that has been discussed or repeated so often that it is no longer funny or interesting)

A subject that has grown stale from overuse.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...

After the flood, God gave a sign (the rainbow) and a promise never to destroy the earth again by flood. In the end days, the world and most in it will burn up, like chestnuts roasting on an open fire... Some believe this end of the age will be brought about by natural events such as the sun going supernova, although technically speaking, astronomers believe the sun is not massive enough to become a supernova. Instead (they postulate), in about 5 billion years it should dramatically expand to become a red giant, which will then fry the Earth.

I believe the story is both literal and allegorical as is many of the Bible stories.

Exactly. People are too scared of the term "allegory". But what in the OT is not allegory?

Israel = church, Egypt = world, Noah/ark = salvation in Christ, flood = final judgement etc.

If you don’t believe the ark story you might as well throw the entire
bible in the bin, as presumably you don’t believe these verses either.
Oh and these verse show that the people of the bible believed it.

Isaiah 54:9 NKJV
[9] "For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That
the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

Ezekiel 14:14 NKJV
[14] Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it,
they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness," says the Lord GOD.

Matthew 24:38 NKJV
[38] For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying
and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

Luke 17:26 NKJV
[26] And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
[7] By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved
with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which
he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

1 Peter 3:20 NKJV
[20] who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which
a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

2 Peter 2:5 NKJV
[5] and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight
people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world
of the ungodly;

I’m glad chestnuts survived the flood. Lol

Check out Ron Whyatt and archaeology of Noah's Ark
but also his discovery of Exodus crossing of the Red Sea
into the Arabian peninsula.

Yikes! That narrator (is it Trey Smith?) sounds extremely freaky...
LOL....Yeah.

I should of put a warning. Outside of the fact that the info is awesome, He keeps it interesting.
Maybe I can find it in written form online.
I would love that. I will look. Let me know what you find if you look Auntie. Eventually I will sift through it like a class so as I can retain the info. well enough to give a sermon on it.

May the LORD continue to bless us in all HIS Way; Jesus Christ.

"Thems fighting words..." Hahahaha!!! ;) You're funny, Jaybird.

Have no fear. The Lone Ranger's horse was "Silver", Matt Dillon (from Gunsmoke) had a horse named "Old Buck", and Roy Rogers' horse was "Trigger". And let us not forget the great movie actor, "Mister Ed".

Mister Ed.jpg

As for what Chestnut, Silver, Old Buck, Trigger, & Mister Ed had to do with Noah..... well, if it wasn't for the 2 equines Noah corralled into the ark, none of these fine horsies would have ever existed.
