Hi there :)

I have started a little project, mostly for personal use, just to try to make the bible in more of a user-friendly version, while keeping all the symbols and concepts pretty much intact. Some of the bible can be so harsh to the mind to read and it rarely gets a chance to convey the real kindness and gentleness and spirit which the books are written in, like 'letters to my friends and others'. So I've started with Corinthians One, Chapters One to Three and I'll be writing more, and perhaps post more depending on the response :)

1 Corinthians, Chapter 1

From myself, Paul, as someone who’s been called to be a disciple of Jesus, and from our brother Sosthenes, we’re writing to the Church of God in Corinth and also to anyone, anywhere, who calls on Jesus; we wish you grace and peace from our Father God and our Lord Jesus.

I’d first like to say, that I’ll never stop thanking God for giving you the grace that He’s given to you through Jesus. You’re so enriched in everything by him. In every single word you speak and in all the knowledge you’ve got. It just shows that what the Messiah’s said and taught has been verified in you, because you haven’t been deprived of any gift while you’re expecting the revelation of our Jesus and He’ll continue to confirm it to you until its finale when you’ll be without blame in the Day of our Lord. You see, God is faithful, and it’s by him you’re called into the brotherhood and fellowship of his Son. But let me submit a request to all my brothers and sisters, that in his name you’ll do one thing for me; come together without division. I would like you all to be as one mind and one conscience. My brothers and sisters from the house of Kloe sent word to me that there was some sort of contention between you all. Some of you are going round saying “I’m with Paul”, someone else says “I’m with Apollo”, another person says, “I’m with Kaypha”, and another shouts, “I’m with the Messiah.’ And it makes me wonder, has the Messiah been divided? Or was it Paul that was crucified for you all? Or were you baptized in Kaypha’s name? I’m quite relieved now that I never baptized anybody except for Crispus and Gaius, just in case the crucifixion of Jesus ended up being rejected completely! I know the message of the crucifixion is insanity to the lost sheep, but to some of us that know life and have found God, it’s the power of God Himself. So as it’s been written, ‘I’ll nullify the wisdom of the worldly wise, and remove the opinions of the foolishly intelligent’.

And rightly so, tell me, who’s really wise? Who’s the scribe and who’s the debater of the ways of this world? Hasn’t God shown that the wisdom of this world is nuts? God, in all his wisdom, decided that the world didn’t know God through wisdom itself and so it’s the insanity of preaching that gives a life in God to those who believe in it! Because the Jews ask for signs and the Aramaeans look for philosophy but we preach The Messiah as a ransom for men in crucifixion and it’s a scandal to the Judeans and a madness to the Aramaeans. But to the people who understand, both Jews and Aramaeans alike, The Messiah is the power of God and the wisdom of God. You see God’s madness is wiser than humans’ and God’s weakness is stronger than humans. So I’m glad to say that it’s a lot better for the sake of Godliness that not many among you are wise in the ways of flesh, or mighty, or children of a great family line because God’s ironically chosen the foolish of the worldly ways to shame the wise of them, and He’s chosen the weak of the world to shame the mighty. And He’s chosen those of low descent in the world, the rejects, outcasts and people who are nothing, to nullify those who are. And then no-one will boast before him, neither the humble nor the proud who have been brought low. And you’re from him too as you’re following Jesus’ example, Jesus who became the wisdom and righteousness and holiness and redemption of God. So as it’s been written, ‘whoever proclaims of great things, let him proclaim of God!’

1[SUP]st[/SUP] Corinthians, Chapter 2

When I first came to you all, I didn’t give you the message of God through my magnificent speech or my scholarship and I never put myself in the position of thinking that I knew anything amongst you other than The Messiah and his crucifixion for us. I was scared among you all. And I put my message across without persuasiveness or philosophy. Instead it was simply done in the demonstration of the Spirit of God so that you would have faith in the power of God instead of the wisdom of men.

However we do speak 'wisdom' with the knowing people, who can understand it. Only because it’s wisdom that isn’t of this world or its authorities, who by the way are all brought to nothing by it. It’s mysterious wisdom, containing things that were kept secret, that God had destined for us and his glory before time even began. It is wisdom that none of the rulers of this world knew, because if they had, they wouldn’t have crucified the one who would bring the glory of it all.

But as it has been written: “The eye hasn’t seen, the ear hasn’t heard, and the heart of man hasn’t been touched by what God has prepared for those who love him.”

God’s revealed it all to us through his spirit and the spirit searches into everything, even the depths of God. Who knows what is in a man except for the spirit of the man that is in him? So a man doesn't know what is in God except by having the Spirit of God. We haven’t received the spirit of the world now. We have received The Spirit that comes from God, so we can know the gift that’s been given to us from God. The teachings that we speak, of the Way of God, aren’t in the teaching of the wisdom of men. They are in the teaching of The Spirit and we compare spiritual things to the spiritual.

A selfish man doesn’t take in spiritual things at all; simply because they are madness to him. He doesn’t carry the right spirit to know them. But a spiritual man discerns everything and he is not subject to human judgement, as that of the selfish man. Because what unspiritual man has the mind of God to be able to judge and teach him? But we, followers of Christ, now have the mind of The Messiah!

1[SUP]st[/SUP] Corinthians, Chapter 3

But my dear brothers and sisters, I don't feel I’ve been able to speak with you as though you’re people who have come to inherit the spirit in fullness yet. I feel I've had to speak with you as though you're somewhat primal and still babies to the Messiah. So I gave you milk to drink, like a baby first learning how to eat, a little at a time, and I didn't give you solid food; or rather the teaching in its whole form. Simply because I didn’t feel that you’ve been able to carry it until now; and I still think you’re unable. I didn’t want to overburden you with too strong a teaching, because I believe you’re still in the mind of the flesh.

Why? I see division amongst you all. But let us look and see for sure. Do you think you’re carnal at the minute? Are you walking in the flesh? You see, whenever any of you exclaim 'I'm with Paul', or 'I'm with Apollo', aren’t these carnal-minded things to say? Because who am I? And who is Apollo? What are we except for simple passers-on and carriers of the things which you believe? So allow me to share some wisdom for your benefit in this issue; Each man is according to what God has given him. I planted the seed and Apollo watered it, but it’s God who made it grow! So the person who plants it isn’t worth much, neither is the person who waters anything, because it's God who grants it growth in the end. But still, whoever plants and whoever waters, they are like one; and a person receives their wage rightly in accordance with what they work. Apollo and I, we work with God, and so you’re our reward; God's building!

So according to the grace which God gave to me, I laid the foundation, being as wise an architect as possible, and then another person came along and built upon it. And it’s very important that every person should pay attention to how they build upon it. Because nobody can lay another foundation except the one that’s already been laid, which is Jesus, in all that He stands for. So if a man builds on this foundation with gold or silver or precious stones, or wood, hay or stubble, then the work of that person is eventually to be revealed for what it is. That day, which is the Day of God, reveals it. You see, the work of every person is revealed by fire, and the fire tests what sort of work it is. And the person’s whose work remains after the fire will receive their reward from The Builder. And the person’s whose work burns up, will then suffer a loss. Thankfully they themselves will escape and be saved, though it will only be as someone who is escaping by the flames.

About this, I want to share a hidden insight. You are the Temple of God, and The Spirit of God dwells within you. So, whoever destroys the Temple of God, God then destroys them. This is why; The Temple of God is holy, and it is you. So if you destroy the temple of God, which you are, then it is as though you have destroyed yourself.

So take care not to be deceived by yourself or anyone among you. Any one of you who thinks they’re wise of the ways of this world is better to become a fool of them so that you may be truly wise, because the wisdom of this world makes no sense to God’s mind, as it has been written: “He has seized the wise in their craftiness.” And again, “God knows the reasonings of the wise, and knows that they are worthless.” So you should take care not to glory in what comes from men, because everything we have belongs to you as well as us. Whether Paul, or Apollo, or Kaypha, or the world, or life, or death, or things in the present, or things in the future; everything is yours, and you’re The Messiah's and The Messiah is God's.
