My husband was brought up in an orphanage and his family is his friends in the orphanage.
When he was 29 le left his country and went to live in another country. He came back after 26 years and all his friends were happy to see him until they found out that he became a born again believer in Jesus Christ.

He meets us with 2 or 3 of them once in a while to have a coffee only. He can’t really spend buddy time with them because they want to do the things which we as Christians should not do. During the coffee sessions, they don’t want any mention of God which is Ok because he hopes that just by his actions and behavior, it will be enough to witness to them.

However with a few others, they have just cut him right off. From friend to foe and that saddened my hubby.
It’s interesting that without even saying much, just being in Christ, one gets persecuted.

Paul says to Timothy
2 Timothy 3:12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
See how Paul says “will be persecuted” and not “if”

At this point in our lives, we have a lot of acquaintances but no friends. It saddened us at the beginning but now we have learned to accept it because we realised that if one wants to live a really godly life, you will be unpopular in the world.

However in the spiritual realm, we are so blessed and never alone as God is always with us as He is our friend, our comforter, our healer, our provider, our saviour, our redeemer and our almighty God.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
1Peter 5:14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of Glory and of God rests on you

What about you? Do you have something similar to share?

As a creationist, I am politcally incorrect. But I will not change my opinion according to the history of the earth. I am a critic of Islam, too, as I have read the Koran, which is not holy.

So I have undergone persecoution very much.

All my "friends" dropped me like a hot potato after I started following God. Even some of the ones that had claimed to be Christians but still liked to smoke dope, drink, fornicate, and party.

In my opinion, he shouldn't take it personally but just realize it's part of the cost of following God. If he maintains his position in Christ and perseveres, he will find that the wheel eventually comes around.

In the beginning he did take it personally cause they were cursing him but after time he realised that it is the cost of following God and the christian walk is not a bed of roses in the world.
However, because he has a strong relationship with the Lord, the Lord is His joy and strength.
