Philippians 1: (K.J.V.)

[9] And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

Judgment

Greek
1. aistesis = perception. Occurs only in Phil. 1.9, where A.V. reads "sense" in the margin and R.V. reads "discernment".
(from Appendix 177 of the Companion Bible by Bullinger )............

(From Strong's.)

Greek
aisthesis
ah'-ee-sthay-sis

from aisqanomai - aisthanomai 143; perception, i.e. (figuratively) discernment:--judgment........

My understanding is that in most places in the bible, "judgement" should have been rendered as "discernment"

How about the breastplate of discernment in Exodus 28

Notes on my ongoing considerations of it -

A hand (works) width when doubled over (every work has both a public and a personal aspect to it)
Covers the heart
Decorated with 12 "merit badges" of having experienced all things that each Son of Israel is named after, the first and last in the list match the two in revelation 4, and curiously, each of these two stones were used to make "seals", one for wax and one for ink
A "coin flip" mechanism with the two rocks inside the pouch, for when he doubts himself and has faith that he will blindly draw out the one that God intends.
Does he always draw out blindly in faith? or does he sometimes feel the rocks and choose because of faith in having been given authority?
And so on.

Probably a less obvious set of verses than what you requested, but if you learn anything from it about discernment, give me some more clues.
