[h=1]Polygamy vs. polygyny vs. polyandry In all it should be considered the same between men and women. The only reason polygyny was allowed and polyandry was not then unless the men were of comletely different races you would not be able to tell who the father was. whereas in polygamy you know who the father was. Modern medicine has made this difference null by giving a woman with say 5 husbands the ability to know who the father was. In modern china for example because of infanticide where they aborted most of the female babies they have a sex ratio problem. 100 women for 120 men. In Mormon communities where the older men practice polygamy they have to banish young men because they took the women the young men would normally marry which created a similar sex ratio problem. Ideally if both polygamy and polyandry were allowed and legal at the same time they would offset each other. According to the law a man or woman can marry multiple of the opposite sex, but cannot have sex with anyone other then their respective spouses, the thou shalt not commit adultery commandment did not specify how many people you could marry, only that you had to be faithful to them. God didn't tell all those kings with a large number of wives to release them all but one... Likewise by that precedent a woman could have more then one husband and not violate that commandment. and long as she remained faithful to her husbands she would not be guilty of adultery. So the ten commandments to not outlaw it and well the laws of Moses allow kidnapping and rape of enemy Moses encourages his men to use captured virgins for their own sexual pleasure, i.e. to rape them. After urging his men to kill the male captives and female captive who are not virgins he says: "But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves" (Numbers 31: 18). God then explicitly rewards Moses by urging him to distribute the spoils. He does not rebuke Moses or his men (Numbers 31: 25-27). So the laws of Moses are out as far as any moral compass. So that leaves Jesus' commandments. do unto others as you would have them do to you. Who am i to tell another person who they can or cannot love? Nobody can tell me who i can or cannot love. so outlawing polyandry with that one no, love thine enemy. if women think that another woman is a slut for having 5 husbands then would that not be her enemy? so not that one either. None of Jesus comandments would condemn a man or woman for having multiple spouses, Jesus even defended a prostitute.... slut shamers take note... anyway thats my 2 cents[/h]
