My Bible has a little footnote that points to Proverbs 3:11-12 as the original source for Hebrews 12:6. Can you see what is different?

"My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in."
So now you are suggesting that the Holy Spirit did not know what He was writing in Proverbs and Hebrews? Of course not.

I see no conflict here only knit picking about how God guides His children through suffering to reveal His graciousness.

I'm not objecting to the language in either passage. Sometimes saints are called upon to suffer great adversity so perhaps scourging is not too strong a word.

I wondered why the Lord didn't just take me right then and there when I first came to Him.

It seemed to me like it would be so much simpler and easier on everyone.

Maybe He's got some plan for me that comes later.

I noticed that when we go through certain things that we are much more able to speak to people who are also going through those same things. And when we can show them the faith that we have in the Lord is what defines us and not the bad experience we are going through, I think that helps people. To have a certain peace in the storm...
That's right. Who better to help others but those who have been through the same things they have? Jesus did promise us that in this world we would have tribulation. But thankfully God has a real knack for turning what is meant for evil to good.

It is as if this was written by one person
I sometimes mention that when we repent of our sin, most of our problems disappear. People will disagree and say that the world forces all kinds of problems on us. However, I think you will find that the problems we bring onto ourselves through our own sin are far more painful than the problems other people cause us.
This by another
But like I said, those hassles are far less painful than the ones we bring on ourselves through our sin.

Jesus says his burden is light and then seems to contradict himself by saying the way is hard. We need to recognize the context, perhaps.
This by yet another, and supposedly answered my response.
I would rather face those challenges with a clear conscience than a guilty one.
(BTW, how do you know you'd rather face those challenges with or without a clear conscience, if you didn't even read it?)

This was the first person again, but didn't want to be hassled by the inconvenience of having to think out an answer, once more read what someone wrote past two sentences.

Your post was extremely long. I only read a tiny portion of it.
This one was a fortune cookie
But the Lord solves our problems for us.
Now we've head towards not wanting any hassle at all.
The Lord solves problems in his own way. Part of it is listening to him and following directions.
"I think." That's what you said often enough.

I didn't get what you thought and hoped you'd explain it better with examples. This is a Bible Discussion Forum after all.

But, you didn't want to think that much. Now I just think it's a bunch of fortune cookies slogans that don't help anyone with problems, nor is it biblical.

Some of us do struggle. You'r answer is repent and problems disappear.

Depleted, the reason we have problems like you listed is because sin entered into the World through Adam.

You gave a very long list. Are you bragging or complaining? I cannot tell which you are doing.

I can match you point for point in my life but why would i do that? Are your eyes on God or your problems?

REJOICE in God!

Doubtful anyone who really knows God would show such an utter lack of compassion to another believer. Since you obviously do not know God it's to the iggy bin you go, I will pray for you but I will no longer read your misguided unGodly opinions.

My eyes are on the suffering of Christians that have to read this false boistering every day and wonder why it's not working for them as easily as it works for the ones who give out these easy-peasy-Christianese fortune cookie pat answers.

Now we know.

(At least the video is funny. Not so funny when this is what is given as edifying for Christians.)

I think things that come from other people are the worse pain. And repenting does not cause problems to go away because there can still be consequences despite the fact we are forgiven.

Our blessed Savior and Father know that when a person is first saved there is a grace period when the newbie, the child, in Christ needs special nurturing, and everything seems perfect for a while, until we are grown enough to endure the trials and real tribulations that come upon us in this age. When we do mature in the spirit and the trials begin, not only have we been prepared for them, we thank our Father that we are deemed worthy to endure them. True, there are times they seem unbearable, but even those times pass, and we praise God no matter what the circumstances. This is the ongoing process of dying with Christ. Of course we are never perfect in this age, thus we all need Christ crucified, but we are promised to be made perfect on That Day when our blessed God finishes the work He began ineach of us on the day we first came to Him as children to the One and dOnly Fahter of us all, amen.

Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Yes, as a example we can use Saul/Paul, when he was being chasten by the LORD.

Acts 9:15-16

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

Shalom

Nuts! I didn't get that grace period. (Which can explain why I backslid so quickly.) Mom was given up to six months to live after she was diagnosed with cancer. (Her exact quote to me was "Three weeks? Six weeks? Six months? Who knows?") I was saved eight months later. She died three months after that. And I was whisked away back with my Dad 1500 miles away, so lost my Christian family too.

That "grace" period is in the spirit of how the words are used in modern terms, it does not refer to our eternal and saving grace.

When we first know the Lord, many experience a period where everything is perfect, and there do not seem to be any trials, but this does end..........that is the grace period.

When the Father knows each of us is ready, we are drafted into that holy fight with things unsee, yet potentially damaging. Relyiing on the strength, wisdom and abilitiy of our Savior, we get though it all and we wind up with ou rKing forever more come His day for us.

At my age, many, most, of my family and other loved ones have gone ahead before me. This too is a lesson in what is our future, to be away from this age and living forever in the reality of true life with our Father, our King, our Savior. It will be wonderful, and we will not remeber anything of what was hurtful or bad. Praise Jesus Christ, amen.
