The apostles were boasting to Jesus about how awesome the church building in Jerusalem was. He answered 'I say unto you that not one stone shall remain on another'. Why? Did Jesus have a problem with brick and mortar? I mean He could have punished Israel for their sins but at least keep this beautiful church building and given it to the Jewish Christians....right? What a waste...right?
He was saying, in essence, that God does not dwell in church buildings built by men but that His people would comprise His habitation. Get back to this thought in a minute.
That His Son would be the Head over His ekklesia. No man would glory in His presence. In 3John, Diotrephes would do his level best to change that dynamic by exalting himself above his fellows, to be a special leader and shepherd, relegating Jesus to 'the back of the bus' as it were.
Question for all saints today. Why did John rebuke him and denounce his claim to power and headship? Think about it.
The ekklesia went on for a few hundred years meeting in homes, on the river bank, etc.. Then The emperor Constantine, in about 326 AD, declared pagan Rome, Christian and started converting heathen/satanic church buildings into Christian church buildings complete with the Diotrephes clerical system. Diotrephes finally won. The ekklesia, except for a remnant, bought into the audience/one leader paradigm.
Since that moment on the functioning body of Christ gave up its every member ministries and yielded the floor to the one man show system.
Temples have been built ever since with little popes or antichrists taking the overlording charge of Gods people with relish, confining the believers to 1700 years of apathetic/ pathetic pew sitting with their mouths duct taped. You'll not find this structure in your NT.
Now before you go apoplectic on me let me say this. I use the word antichrist in its simplest meaning. To take the place of Christ. To deny the One who bought them which means to teach or operate contrary to sound doctrine, to teach opposite of what He set forth.
Much of this falsehood has been regurgitated over and over then incrementally solidified in to unyielding stone for these past 1700" years, approximately.
There are many honorable men and women who have stepped into the deeds of the Nicolaitans not understanding that the division of the upper level few over the lower many has been clearly forbidden in the NT. nico: to subdue. Laitan: laity.
My thesis is that the spirit behind the rebuilding of the end times temple with the antichrist sitting in the upper exalted chamber, podium, making himself God, has already been here in operation when Diotrephes made that upper crust position his desire and goal. He wanted to be head elder or shepherd(pastor).
But it actually goes back to the one who is this antichrist spirit. Did not satan attempt to raise himself above the congregation in the heavens? Isaiah 14. He continues to live this arrogance out through this false clerical mess.
Pride, ego, arrogance! The fleshly culprit in the heart of man.
This is why Jesus told His disciples in Matt. 20 ' the gentile world has its despots that rule over them BUT ....it shall not be so among you...' I know of only a handful of Christians that get this!!
We we are all brothers. Not one man or women is to 'lord it over His heritage'.
Again, Jesus destroyed the church building in Jerusalem by Titus and his Roman army. He even took the temple relics and treasure and many Jews as slaves back to Rome and sold them all off so his father and him could finish building the roman colosseum that was used to kill Christians.
The tabernacle in the wilderness was God's idea, a traveling structure where He revealed His glory. Solomons church building was Solomons idea, was laid waste by Nebuchadnezzar. Herods church building was Herods idea, laid waste by Rome.
Anybody getting this yet? God dwells in His people. We are His workmanship. A habitation for our God. Lively stones built up a spiritual house, not stationary, but on the move as He leads us.
The man made structure ties the hands of believers and muzzles their mouths and functions.
A little pope/papa/father is over them. This is the spirit and operation of antichrist. There is only One Mediator and no room or place for another.
