What do you most love about the good news of Jesus? Grace. Love, overwhelming love. Truth. We can know God. Forgiving.
Love it, live it and tell it.
Levi is detested by all ppl. Jesus told Levi to follow and he followed. Later Jesus ate with Levi and other sinners and the pharisees questioned the disciples about why but on hearing this Jesus answers IT IS NOT THE HEALTHY WHO NEED A DOCTOR, BUT THE SICK. I HAVE NOT COME TO CALL THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT SINNERS.
Jesus has dinner with Levi and others so he can share the gospel with those ppl and they can have their sins forgiven if they want to change.
What makes evangelism so difficult? Fear, my life's a wreck, blinded, minds made up.
Get them to do a bible/Christian study - 2 Corinthians c4 v3-6. What can't they see? Why they can't see? Who cures blindness? What is our role?
Satan blinds but God gives light and sight. God has the power to undo the blindness of Satan and show us the truth, love and light.
Pray and proclaim. Signposts and servants.
We preach Christ. V5 God opens blind eyes. V6
How do we preach the gospel? Four words. BLINDNESS - Disciples are blind to the identity, mission, and call of Jesus. They don't see as we don't see what Jesus came to do and who he was.
From the gospel of Mark chapter 1 v1, do we see who Jesus is?
In Mark c4 v 35-41 the disciples woke Jesus, because they were afraid of drowning and Jesus rebuked the wind by telling the wind and rain to be quiet.
Disciples are still afraid but for a different reason. They mutter between themselves about who Jesus is and the authority he commands.
As you look at the cross, what do you see? Do you see just a dead carpenter or do you see the son of God? Can you take up your cross?
Jesus came to serve and so must we. We trust in God to open our eyes and cure our blindness.
Would you look at the bible with me? Psalm 103 - What does it say about man? What does it say about God?
Man - we flourish but we are forgotten so quickly, "the wind blows over it and it is gone, and the place remembers it no more (v16).
God - he is never forgotten as he is always there. He is everlasting. V17 "But from everlasting to everlasting the Lords love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children."
Who is Jesus? What does gospel mean? Why did Jesus come? What does Mark say about Jesus?
Be a bible sharer, not a teacher. Share the bible with friends and family and those who want to follow Christ.
