So I saw someone's post in this forum about this topic and I would also like to get ur opinions on this issue. I was born and got baptised in a protestant church and honesty I loved it. In 2015, I moved in with my sister and her family ( an adventist family) and I had to start going to church on Saturday instead of Sunday and I didn't see any problem with that because we all worship the same God. to be honest when I started going to an adventist church I got more interested in working on my relationship with God. recently I got into a heated argument with my sister after I told her that I was told by my boss to go to work after church because there was some work that needed to be done urgently. what hurt me so badly is that me wanting to work on sabbath got her to question my relationship with God and my faith. I love going to church in an adventist church but I also don't understand why Saturday ( Sabbath) has become like a symbol and a day of do's and don'ts to them. for example at home u can watch movies any other day but not on sabbath, same with the kind of books u read, etc. what are ur opinions on this?

I am not sure whether Adventists can be called Christians, they are too similar to Jehovah witnesses (and they have the same roots).

You should live in a freedom Christ brought to us, not according to some church´ rules.

Was the Sabbath made for man, or was man made for the Sabbath?

Ummmmmmm no offence, but we do not all worship the same God.....the doctrinal differences alone concerning salvation and the fact that Paul speaks to those who preach a DIFFERENT JESUS proves this point.....

I kind of "don't get", whole resting on the sabbath "practice". Wasn't it Jesus Himself, that "healed" on the sabbath? Didn't He, and His disciples "do work" on the sabbath, when they went traipsing through a corn field, (oh mercy!), picked off some ears of corn (HEY!...You CAN'T do that!!), peeled of the husks (you is damned for sure now!), and ate it? When asked concerning this "breaking of "the LAW", what did Jesus give for an answer? (Matthew-12: 1-14) "The Son of man is Lord, "even over", the sabbath day." In another account, I believe he told them, that "The Sabbath was created for man!" "Not man for the Sabbath!"

Your questioning your sister concerning the "big deal", they make over the sabbath? Well? Not knowing your "housing" situation, nor how long you intend on remaining under your sister's (and assume her husband, and children) roof? Or, perhaps, someone within that particular fellowship of adventists, has "another" type of occupation, in mind for you? These are questions only you can ask/answer. Having grown up with 2 (count 'em...lol) sisters, I can "relate" to just how heated, any argument can become.

Having attended a 7th day adventist church service one time, with the "foot washing" (think they did that once a month...jez happened to be there on that particular saturday, I guess...lol), which I was asked to partake in, or just witness (which I did btw), t'was, a rather humbling site in the beholding of, but something, for some reason or another, I just couldn't participate in. Because, to me? And, I can't speak for other "groups" of 7th day adventists, it "seemed to me", they were merely "going through the motions, while gabbing away", trying to get done (like they were on some kind of time schedule) as soon as possible. But, I suppose that with "familiarity", "contempt", is "nibbling at your toes" (pun intended...lol)

I can say, however, that 7th day adventists women, can do some amazing things with vegetable dishes. Beings, that they are all, I think, vegetarians.
