No problem, and thank you for your No vote. The statement was more intended as a general statement going to bottom line salvation in the gospel, whereas your extending it into a more detailed real world experience, with dynamics and that we're all imperfect, I would agree there's no cookie cutter, in that. God deals with individuals. Technically, I wouldn't call that a No vote, the basic intent more wondering how many people believe God saves those who exhibit righteousness first, or one gets initial grace, then must start earning salvation, maintaining some checklist, sabbath keeping, feasts, be some denomination with unique requirements and the like, some saying things to indicate the statement, to them, is false. (There are people making such assertions here and there.) So, the poll was more meant one believes the basic principles or not, as opposed to people fail to always walk in the light of Christ, this another discussion I hadn't anticipated, but I do understand what you're saying. On the other hand, on that subject, the cookie cutter is, must be, that to some real degree, a person is led by the Holy Spirit. It would be another matter if you're saying a person can cop to cheap grace, never really repenting, remain the same old. unGodly jerk. The statement isn't touching easy believism, which I'd add that I don't believe such genuine faith. A person does become a new creature in Christ, or not. That's scriptural.
-Ah. That explains it. I can't see a way to convert the gospel into a one-sentence statement either. lol

You have far higher expectation for the web than probably most people.
I have a higher expectation of a site for Christians than I do for any other spot on the web. To date, I have yet to figure out if this site gets there, but I do see serious lack of effort on the side of some folks claiming to be Christian. I expect failure on the web. I expect Christians to rise above failure through Christ at times. I don't always get what I expect, but if I expect nothing that's all I'll get.

There was serious lack of effort by Christians in response to this poll. There is disagreement, and then there is attitude. I expect more with Christian attitude. I'm supposed to, just as I'm supposed to give a better attitude. Not perfect, but effort would be nice.

Not usually posting threads, because they die on the vine (heavy traffic a half dozen posts, usually like, may as well, "You're insane..."), but this thread requires no long and drawn out refutations or epithets, is just a poll. If you'd like to comment, even if just for the opportunity to unload something evil, that's alright. Here is the proposition, true or false,

"If a person is saved, it will show in his life. We are not saved by keeping the commandments; we are not saved by walking as Jesus walked; we are not saved by loving our brother; but if we are saved, these things will be present in our lives."

Thank you if you chose to vote!

How can one be saved when he does not keep Christ's commandments? Jesus is not even 'Lord' of those that do not do what He says, Lk 6:46. One shows an unlove for Christ when he does not keep Christ's commandments, Jn 14:15. Heb 5:9 Christ is the author of salvation unto all them that OBEY Him. Not obeying Christ is doing unrighteousness and those that continue to do unrighteousness will be lost, will not inherit the kingdom of God, 1 Cor 6:9,10.

If a person is saved he/she hopes they walk as Jesus walked. They hope they keep the commandments.

Under careful scrutiny and honesty I think we can see that believers don't walk perfectly as the Lord did.

So I suppose the answer to the poll is it depends on what standard you are looking at it by. If it is by the Perfect standard of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ then we can easily vote no.

If it is by a relaxed standard where we are judging each other by each other then maybe, pridefully, yes.
Actually, in all things I judge for my No vote, they were me judging me. I am Jonah. Jonah was saved, but a real mess. (Whiny. Really whiny, like me. lol) After too many years spent in the fishes' gut, I'm now working towards taking the same trip on a boat. Fish gut isn't comfortable. Boat, since I get seasick, isn't as comfortable as I like, but it's still more comfortable than fish guts. God's going to take me exactly where he wants me to go. It's high time I embrace that. Sorry, but some of us are more stubborn than others, and I'm one of that kind.

Sometimes it's not judging others. ;)

You know the bottom line? When we understand what Holy God really means, we are ALL saved messes. So, you have nothing to apologize for others don't, your honesty even quite admirable.

Through Christ -- the only way to be saved.

Jesus is not even 'Lord' of those that do not do what He says, Lk 6:46. One shows an unlove for Christ when he does not keep Christ's commandments, Jn 14:15. Heb 5:9 Christ is the author of salvation unto all them that OBEY Him. It was not my car until I redeemed (bought) it. Once it was my car, I am able to use it. Same deal. We have nothing to do with Christ until he buys us. Once bought, it is within us to do as he wills. (And just like a car, it is within us to decide "not today." And then it is within Christ working us into, "yes, even today.")

There is no perfection -- intent, desire, will -- without first being purchased by him. You're putting the ride before the purchase. We're not a test ride. We belong to him through his action, not through our desire, intent, perfection, will.

"Saved." Saved from a just punishment -- separation from God, death and hell. After saved comes the journey.

Okay, and...?

How is that related to what I said? It feels like you're either agreeing with me or disagreeing, but it's so far removed from what I said, I can't tell which.
While there are certain certain believers where they appear to have not lived out a holy life and were saved by God's grace in the end (Like Solomon, Samson, and the thief on the cross). We have to understand that they are not in disagreement with those believers who do live holy. For their repentance is an establishment of the righteousness of God. They repented because they agree in living holy lives. For God wants us to live holy and to be fruitful for him. In so doing, it is showing that one is saved. Yes, somebody can later repent. But we know a true believer by the fact that they act in harmony with God's Word. A believer who is fruitful for God and who is holy is proving their faith to be true in God's eyes is just. A believer cannot abide in unrepentant sin and still be saved. Yes, the Tax Collector was justified in crying out to God to have mercy on him. But we must realize the Tax Collector is not trying to willingly rebel against God as a way of life. He was considered humble for being broken before God. The fruits of the Spirit must be in his life. For he that does not love does not know God.

Point for clarification:

Is it your belief the attributes of obedience will always be visible, or is it possible we can behave "in the flesh" so that anyone observing us at that particular moment might doubt our salvation, even though it is, according to Scripture, unquestioned?

No, I'm not of the school that sees man as reaching some state of perfection. Some are real saints, near always apparent, others prone to be more emotionally driven, still others habits to overcome: sometimes we're all just human, as in like the fallen creature. We are all at different places in our walks, God dealing with us individually to "polish" us. While I fear for many who believe lying doctrines, those who demonstrate devilish natures, to where you'd call it their personalities, on and on as if not having the Spirit, we can't divide each other's hearts and know what God knows, that some are saved or not saved, a little above my pay grade to figure that out! Also, there is that more carnal or less industrious Christian, whatever you want to call them, who's saved, but whose works burn up, saved by the skin of their teeth, as in 1 Corinthians 3. So, I'd say a resounding no that anybody can be on all the time as a Christian, and yes that Christian is saved by faith and the grace of God who's having a bad hair day. Somebody with a confession of faith in Christ I feel compelled to try and take at their word, hard a that is sometimes. It's sure Paul will have a much better crown than me, but just being in God's heaven and being with Jesus is enough, don't wear anything on my head, anyway.

This is just to thank everybody who voted, and it's a pleasant surprise, since people mainly agree with the gospel the Bible teaches. That's a little good news! God keep you all, even you impossible cases.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

There is no verse(s) that teach Christ will save the disobedient or those that do not love Him.

It never has been about man's love and obedience to Father but God's love towards sinful men to release them from death through faith in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

John 3:16-18
16“For God so loved the world,[SUP]i[/SUP] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Romans 5:8-11

8but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Romans 4:25
who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

Romans 5:18
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men

Colossians 2:13-15
13And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15He disarmed the rulers and authorities[SUP]b[/SUP] and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.[SUP]c[/SUP]

Ephesians 4:17-24
17Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22to put off your old self,[SUP]f[/SUP] which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 2:1-9

1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[SUP]a[/SUP] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[SUP]b[/SUP] 4But[SUP]c[/SUP] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3

is there an action involved in believing.
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith Galatians 3

Jn 14:15,21 "If ye love me, keep my commandments.....He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." One does not have the Fatherly love of God without keeping CHrist's commands.

Lk 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

One cannot call Jesus "Lord" without doing/obeying what He said.

Mt 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

One cannot enter the kingdom of heaven with out doing/obeying the will of God.

Heb 5:9 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;"

Christ is NOT the author of salvation unto all them that do not obey Him.

2 Thess 1:8 "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:"

Vengeance upon those that "obey not". It does not say salvation upon those that obey not.

Jn 6:27 "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed."

WORK for the meat that endures unto everlasting life, not doing nothing for the meat that endures unto everlasting life.
