So I have a lot of questions and hopefully someone out there will answer them:

is it spiritually appropriate and acceptable to use a lot of satire and sarcasm as a Christian? Does it go against God's words? Can satire "poison" the spirit and your relationship with Christ?

There's this website called: https://babylonbee.com and if you thoroughly read some of those articles you can tell that many of them actually have a good or biblical message lying underneath it. I don't think the intention is to hurt people but to make people laugh and obviously criticize some topics as well.

Babylon Bee is my favourite. I follow it on FB. Although, I confess they posted something about gun control, and I went ballistic, and so did about 30 other people who answered me. (Yet, it stayed very tame, and respectful and BB didn’t shut it down!)

But, mostly, it is just poking fun at the things we set up as traditions, the preachers who are not Biblical, and other funny things going on in both the world and the body of Christ. I believe the staff is mostly Reformed, but they poke fun at themselves. Better a merry or cheerful heart, than a crushed spirit.

22 A cheerful heart brings good healing,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Prov. 17:22

Today, it was about Snopes! Apparently, someone has been reporting the satire to Snope.com, and the articles are coming up “FALSE!” Really? I thought it was understood satire was based on a possible reality, but not actual facts. So, now, FB is putting up warnings saying that BB might be reporting false news.

As 7seasrekeyed often says, you can’t make this stuff up! Hilarious!

Of course, if you don’t have a sense of humour, especially a satirical one, stay away from the BabylonBee.

As for me, I get a good laugh out of the BB, and the comments almost daily, how could that be wrong? And people disagree with things, and it is all good. So no, at least in this point in my life, it has not poisoned my walk with God, and helped my poor old bones daily! As yes, they are very Biblical, which is precisely what I like about it. So are most of the comments, which is what I also like about BB. Again, a sense of humour is a requirement, if you are rigid and dusty, caught in men’s traditions, like WoF or KJV Only, probably not a good place for you! LOL

"Thou aren't Peter and upon this rock..." <----said right after Peter denied him three times, so he wasn't proving his strength.

A bit of satire in with truth.

"Brood of vipers" and "whitewashed sepulcher" <-------Most excellent sarcasm!

I think we miss a lot of Jesus' wit, because we grew up knowing this stuff, before thinking it over. He has a sharp, accurate wit.

I love Babylon Bee. It helps me not take politics too seriously. It's often poignant too.

Jesus actually told a lot of jokes in the form of Aramaic puns. Unfortunately, being plays on words, they don’t translate into either Greek or Englsh. Someone put Jesus words into Aramaic, and realized he was cracking a lot of jokes. I wish I had examples, I’ve never been able to figure out where I first read that.

Another fun one from BB this afternoon, concerning Mark Zuckerberg of FB, and him censoring websites on FB.

Mark Zuckerberg Finishes Another Long Day Of Deciding What People Should Believe

Perhaps almost too true to be satire?
