1 .) If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 .) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 .) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 .) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 .) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

The title alone is great advice and the scriptures compliment it

I like it :D I kinda wish there was a thing about the eyes of Christ too, seeing people as He would see them. But I imagine that goes with the mind as well haha

The eys and mind and heart all go together and it all begins with the heart. Jesus had the fathers heart it was full of love compassion humbleness and light, because of what was in his heart that is what how his mind worked because of how his mind worked that effected the eyes he saw through. I have chased after both God's heart and his eyes from the beginning and if I ever received his eyes which one day I am sure i will it will come with his heart because what is in the heart is what you see

p_rehbein,

how we love the scriptures that you posted - they really show us how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell in unity, the unity brings about our love and respect and care
for one another...how pleasing this must be to our Father when it is brought to
ripeness....
our desires should always be to walk, and talk, and be like Him....it is just purely amazing,
this connection between heaven and earth.....

This is probably the most encouraging most heart touching thread made in the bdf for who knows how long but see how it doesn't even begin to compare to threads that promote arguments doctrinal differences and anger towards each other.

I find this very sad....

It is a sad truth that disputations breed discussion. It is a human trait that only the Holy Spirit can defeat IMO.

Last night as I was already about to be knocked out by sleeping meds I was on another Christian forum I like to go too and it's surprising how your hearts deepest desire will pop up when you barely conscious. I made a prayer request saying my one prayer is that God would light a fire in his children and fill everyone's hearts with his love and his fire. This may seem like simple prayer but if one could have felt the deep desire and the deep feelings I poured into those words it would shake their souls.

I cannot say the church bears this fire of his nor can I say that love is who we are as believers as the fruit of the church is evident in the bdf alone. But I also have this to say- it only takes a spark to make that fire burn

2 Thessalonians 3:16 - Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord [be] with you all.

John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Sorry, BUT (hehe) I don't see anywhere in that passage where it says "Seek the Mind of Christ in Yourself ".
This 'in yourself' thingy always gives me New Age flashbacks. We seek the mind of Christ in His Word and above.

Col 3:1-3 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (2) Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (3) For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

The new age is full of 'look within' mumbo jumbo.
Even the Holy Spirit who is in us points to Christ above and in His Word. (Sorry Blain).

Maybe it's from this verse?

1 Corinthians 2:15-16 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

2 Peter 1:2-11King James Version (KJV)

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The title of this thread is
SEEK THE MIND OF CHRIST IN YOURSELF...
My point above is that concept is simply unscriptural. It is a New Age concept.

The title of this thread is
SEEK THE MIND OF CHRIST IN YOURSELF...
My point above is that concept is simply unscriptural. It is a New Age concept.
If we do that which we hate, it is the sin in the flesh (ourselves) that does it, not we...which is our true identity united with Christ in us by the measure in each part of the one body, and united with Christ not measurable.

I agree, and we should intercede for our self and put that body of this death where it belongs...into the hands of God our saviour and delivered.
Romans 7:23-25Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

23 but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
1 Corinthians 15:49-53Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Ephesians 2:11-13Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

We have the mind of Christ, and we have the sin in the flesh until we do not...the real us is born again, adopted, and the only begotten by measure. To God be the glory for all the good and perfect and all things pertaining to life and godliness.
John 3:31-35Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. 32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. 34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
1 John 3:8-10Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

When Jesus spoke towards Peter and used the word Satan, He was not lying. When Paul rebuked the sin in the flesh (thorn in the flesh) of Peter, He did rightly.

The title gave me pause too, Cross. Perhaps it would be better to say, seek the mind of Christ for yourself (own your faith, don't rely on the faith of others to carry you). Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

1PETER 3:1-2.

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind:
for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

That he should no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men,
but to the will of God.

there is nothing 'new-age' about wanting to put-on the New Man's mind-set that only desires
to be one with Christ - in our over-coming, we have to cast-down every imagination and every
high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God...we have to bring every thought into
the captivity of Christ, thus becoming one with Him in our minds and actions.....
this is a Christian's desire and walk of life, right up to the Door and beyond.....

our constant prayer is that we may cast-out every mote that is in our eyes, so that we may
see clearly the beautiful Will of God.....
