I thought it would be worthwhile putting a few thoughts together on this subject after seeing a number of posts where brothers and sisters have said they have done certain things as it was ‘God’s will,’ however, on looking at the circumstances that have resulted from them (supposedly) following ‘God’s will’ it would seem (to me anyway) that it was not so much ‘God’s will’ but their ‘own will’ they were doing.

Guidance from God cannot primarily be got by the following ways: watching television or movies, going out to the pub, club or dancing, playing golf or any other sport, or any other worldly practice and not by speaking to carnal Christians, however, guidance from God is vitally connected to sitting in His Presence and communing with Him, i.e. having a deep prayer life! Psalm 24v1-6.

For those interested, you can read the study Here

I thought it might be worth mentioning that merely because we do not have what we would call "happy" results from our following after the Lord,
doesn't necessarily mean it was not His will. :)

Certainly a valid point...

However, from experience, more often than not I have found that Christians (especially young Christians) miss God's will for them which results in them getting into unnecessary problems...

I do not remember seeing anything of substance posted on this forum (on this subject) and indeed, I have never heard a sermon or teaching in any Church I have attended on it, so the posted study hopefully will remedy this for those interested...

I would have to agree... there appears to be a rising movement of "christians" who use "god told me, god laid it on my heart, god will me to..." do or say things that are contrary to bibical principals and/or bear absolutely NO FRUIT. It seems to me this rises out of the degrading order of the body of christ and the prevailing attitude that everyone is an island unto themselves in their spiritual life, no hierarchal order, accountability or consequences are applical... just a bunch of individual units.

JB, so true. With all th false teachers out preaching lies and deciet, how is a young person going to know the Truth to be FREED from these decietful teachers? By KNOWING the Truth. I encourage my children from 24 to 8, TO READ your Bibles and have lots of alone time with God! How young is too young to go to God for guidance? NEVER TO YOUNG, how old is too old to learn from God, NEVER TO OLD. The only difference I find is the young ones are no so messed up with the false teachings.

And they are not so easily fooled as people think. Jesus said... Suffer not these children to come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God!.... I do believe, that EVERYONE God predestined to be HIS will be HIS, no matter where God has to go to save them. And they will ALL know the Truth, God's Word, and the Truth shall make them free....

My advice to ALL people, young and old. KNOW GOD'S WORD, and GET IT FROM HIM, NO OTHER PERSON! Spend as much time as you can with GOD in HIS Word, and see how God unlocks (reveals) the mystiries for you! He is an AWESOME teacher.
God bless every one that seeks HIM!
