Jesus said the law is in place until the heavens and earth disappear. How can we learn what the law says without the Torah? First 5 books of the Bible! Most of the prophets are in the Old Testament. The whole Bible is the Word of God. Why would we then reject the majority of the Bible?
I dont know, isnt that the question the OP is asking?

Should we study it, or not bother with it? Well I personally study it, but not out of obligation...but out of love for God. I think other people dont want to, and its fine, they dont have to....but Gods word hasnt passed away, its just the mosaic covenant has. Nobody is bound to it anymore. Whats important to God isnt the law but faith. For without faith, its impossible to please God.

Hebrews then lists all the people who exhibited faith in the OT so thats for our learning, not the rituals themselves. Good to know ABOUT them but not actually required to observe those ordinances.
Because we have better covenant made with Jesus blood.

I dont know if the jewish people are actually building a new TEMPLE, but they could be building a new JERUSALEM. In revelation 21 its shown there is no temple inside the new Jerusalem, but theres certainly a bit of changes to the city gates etc. God and the Lamb are the temple.

I get what you are saying even if the others don’t.

Folks she is not saying we can’t eat pork, must still sacrifice animals,
get circumcised etc. Blik is asking can you see the spiritual intent and
reasoning behind it. Even in the Old Testament God wanted obedience rather
than sacrifice. He wanted people who would worship Him in spirit and in truth
rather than people who obeyed the commandments. Why? Because by doing so
meant everything else fell into place.

There is a saying the New is in the Old concealed, the Old is in the New
revealed. (Testament).

Miri,
your 'discernment often amazes us, that is, hub and myself - Praise God!!! :):)

In point of fact they have excavated the site of the first 2 temples. It is in the northern part of the City of David near the temple mount. The Wailing Wall was part of Ft. Antonio housing 6,000 legionares and 4,000 assistants. That is the normal makeup of a Roman Legion. There are Jews who refuse to believe that it isn't a temple wall. They ignore Josephus stated he watched the Roman army tear down the entire temple complex and carry away all of the stones just as Jesus told his disciples would happen. Currently the Jews are starting on building a new temple on that site, it contains Gion springs flowing into a pool where priest ritually cleansed themselves before making a sacrifice on the alter a few feet from it. The video below shows this.

Interesting I dont know if they can build a temple would be a bit of waste of time if they try to build it when they havent even got the foundation. The twelve foundations are listed in revelation 21:19-21 they are all precious stones, but it will dscend from heaven so, whatever they try to build there will get crushed.

The earthly temple used as a shadow to represent the unseen Holy place of God was only used as a parable for the time then present ending kings in Jerusalem. the time of reformation had come successfully restoring the government of God back to the period of Judges.

The veil was rent signaling the beginning of the last days, (the stones lost their value without the veil ) There are some stones laying around in the desert that men use as idol images . Teraphims like that of Rachel. But that does not mean that God who is not a man as us will give another fleshly demonstration of the lamb of God who was slain from before the foundation of the world. Crying out to lifeless rock will not bring about a change of mind

  • the Jews reject Revelation
  • what's being described in Revelation 21 is the Bride of the Lamb:
    • vv. 9-10: One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
    • should this be taken literally as a physical city or as a spiritual vision depicting the Church? a question we have to grapple with ;)

For the prophecy of the abomination that causes desecration stated in Daniel and quoted by Jesus to occur there has to be a temple. One eschatologyical concept of that is a the anti Christ going into the Holy of Holies and declaring himself God.

Why do you think that the Israelies are unable to lay the foundation to build on. I visited Israel several times for work. There was a site where a sign stating the House of the Big Fisherman was excavated. The next time I traveled there a church on stilts was there over the site. You seem to underestimate the ability to engineer buildings.

Well if they are are they the precious stones mentioned in revelation?
There are twelve of them and I dont see any there at the moment. From what I gather, Christ is the cornerstone but where that is, and what substance it is, am not sure (physically) of course I know spiritually.
They cannot build anything without proper foundation otherwise its just like the foolish men building on sand. Sure they may build a great temple but if the foundation is sand its going to collapse!

Hmm kind of think its both, or the spiritual will manifest physically just as Jesus Christ came in the flesh, and he was bodily resurrected and people could see him face to face.

The holy place is not of here .It remains vacant. Why add to its seeing it would fulfill the admonition standing in the Holy place (not seen) the new heavenly Jerusalem . Not the temporal shadow of this corrupted heaven and earth. The reformation is over.

It would seem to be one of those things men turn upside down . That formed the spiritual house of God not seen made of many living stones. We are the city as Christian residents of the city of Christ. if you are looking for a temple we are, Christ in us.

The kingdom of God is not of this world as if it did come by observation .Never was never will be. We look to a new heavens and earth .

Isaiah 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

I would say this in regards to keeping/practicing any ritual or tradition of the Old Testament...Beyond reading and studying the scripture, it would be contrary to gods word, Paul spoke to the Galatians about this and called them fools...God sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for all of us and fulfill the law and save those that were subject to it...(retroactive)

The foundation of that building was 4 angled massive posts.

And mixing them up is what this thread is about.
The idea of mixing up the words of the OT and NT is contrary to what God would have us know about His word. It is not a matter of mixing them up, it is a matter of them working together in a precise way.

When God breathed His word to us God didn't tell us this is the old word and this is the new word. God tells us He is one and He is eternal. If God is without time, as the word eternal means, then there can be no old and new but only God.

To support this idea, Christ carefully explained that He did not come to destroy anything. Christ didn't destroy the law, Christ didn't destroy the meaning of the rituals, Christ didn't destroy the teaching of the word in the OT.
Any time we are not sure what the NT is telling us we need only go to the OT to see what the NT has fulfilled. If you wonder about Christ as our high priest, go to the OT as it explains the duties of a High Priest and know Christ fulfilled these but with perfection. What is the Holy Spirit? God to the meeting Moses had with the 70 elders when they temporarily received the Holy Spirit to check it out. All things in the NT are fulfillments of God's ways told of in the OT.

If you mean that scripture tells us not to use the physical rituals but to be led by Christ and the Holy Spirit instead then you are following scripture. If you mean that along with not using rituals we are not to obey God then what you ask for is in opposition to scripture. Paul told us to be circumcised along with his explanation of this. Paul told us that being circumcised in the flesh was not truly being circumcised.

How could we obey Paul if we will not go to scripture to find out what Paul means by being circumcised without a fleshly circumcision?

You seem to underestimate the capacity of the Israelies to engineer construction!! Having been there on several occasions for work I have seen first hand their capabilities in engineering buildings. Get your head out of the sand.
