lol anyone else notice the age difference dividing the doctrinal positioning?

I say trust in the Holy Spirit to lead people into maturity and don't argue over if it will happen, if it should happen. Instead talk about HOW it happens and what we can do to help each other grow in Christ :)

I do not wish to argue either.

I do believe in living a holy life. I reject that fact that anyone can, there is a difference. Doing our best to do this. and succeeding are two different things. Paul stated he never succeeded. why would i think I am better than Paul?

yes God gives us a way out. But as scripture makes c;lear, man does not always chose this way out. Jon makes it clear that if we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves. So forgive me if I refuse to say I am, or can be without sin.

Please where does it say Paul did not succeed?

You have made an indictment against every single believer that might have a problem with sin in their life and that is not just new believers but all believers.
I know what you are trying to bring across, but this is not a fair assessment of the OP. His focus in on the new nature of the believer, and it is true as far as it goes. What could have been added is that "the old man" ("the flesh") that wants to sin has not been eradicated, and therefore Christians must "crucify" or "mortify" or put to death the flesh by dying daily to sin and living daily to righteousness. The important point to keep in mind is that sin cannot, must not, and will not have dominion over the one who has been genuinely regenerated, since the indwelling Holy Spirit will empower the believer to "do" righteously and "do" righteousness. In order for this to become a reality, God expects Christians to become "living sacrifices" (Rom 12:1,2). To claim "sinless perfection" is to be self-deceived.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
