Hey everyone, just joined this site so I'm not really use to doing this kind of thing, but I was hoping to find women in Christ who long for fellowship for encouragement, to spur one another on in the faith, and to reason the word together, as scripture says to do, so that we may grow closer to Him together in the perfecting of our faith. Scripture talks about how Christ wants us to be of one mind....that is HIS mind, and as I continue in this walk I long for that more and more....to be united with other believers in both mind and thought as Christ wants us to be. I know that this is possible because I have seen and am still seeing it happen in my life and in the way the Lord has allowed me to live. If we only uphold what He says and not what we think....if we come to one another testing and rebuking with His words and not our own, then this is possible. No longer conforming to this world and living to our sinful nature, but dying to ourselves, conforming to Christ and Gods Word and choosing to live and grow up in what is offensive to our flesh.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.

I hope that there is some women who have been convinced of these same things....and though there may be things we do not agree on....we will only uphold what He says and correct with what He says and in that be taught of the Holy Spirit together...

with the Love that only comes from Him,
Kate

Hi Katy913!
You are a woman after my own heart, you don't know how long I have longed for authentic fellowship with my sisters. I love that you posted this, and that we can hold each other accountable in love and truth. Iron sharpens Iron, my friend. "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Looking forward to it!

Hi Kate, welcome to CC...

Just curious as to why you don't include like-minded men in your invitation? Gal 3v28...

Dear abair,
I am not sure how what you quoted related to what your saying, but if your suggesting that scripture does not mean what it says then I disagree whole heartily. And if you choose to believe that you are justified in making the decision that you are more qualified than a man....rather than just seeing who upholds the word and letting it be seen who has His favor, than it seems that your argument is with God and not me. God is clear in his word that man has authority over woman, because He said so.
I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
1 Timothy 2:12
If you know that scripture says that how can say in the same breathe that you love Jesus but clearly show that you do not honor His word.
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 14:23
Yes, God has and does use women, but in a different way. Yes, there are women who were used the same way as men in the bible, but it was only when no man would hear His voice and be willing to be used of Him.
Please do not write on here to cause confusion and agruments, but only if you truely want to know what God says and have a humble teachable attitude, a pure heart, or if you just really feel lead to share something.

sincerely and lovingly,
Kate

Jb,
Thanks for asking. I just really wanted to find sisters in Christ who were like minded and wanted to learn together. I know what scripture says about a woman's place and I try to live by that. I did not want to put myself knowingly in a position that I might be tempted to teach man when it is not place. However if a man is lead by God to say something in this thread I will not prevent him from doing so.

I just read the verse you posted jb and I believe it is truth, but I do not believe that one scripture overrides another, they must both be true. So as I wrote in the message to abair, a man has authority over a women....but God will use whoever is willing.

Well, as regards a woman teaching a man...

Priscilla taught an Apostle (Apollos) the way of the Lord more accurately...Acts 18v24-28, 1Cor 4v6-9.

The names Priscilla (Prisca) and Aquilla occur together 6 times in the NT, 3 of those times 'Priscilla' is put first, indicating that she took the leading role in teaching/preaching and ministering (to the Body of Christ), she was also a helper of Paul's... Rom 16v3

So, I have no problems with a woman who teaches in the Body of Christ (both men and women), for they certainly taught all members of the Body of Christ in the early Church...

As regards 1Tim 2v12 that you quote, the context of this Scripture (and 1Cor 14v34,35) is not in relationship to women not ministering in the Church, in 1Tim 2v11,12, Paul is referring to domestic matters (as in 1Cor 14v34,35), as the context clearly shows, for in v 13,14, Paul speaks of Eve's relation to Adam and to child-bearing. Paul said that women should not usurp a man's place, and this is certainly true in the home. Paul definitely says in 1Cor 11v5, 12v7, 14v26, that a woman can pray, prophesy, teach, bring a Psalm and minister to the rest of the Body of Christ in the informal fellowship meetings and whenever the occasion arises.

However, I quite understand your desire to fellowship with only woman as you explain...

Jb,
As I said before I know that women at different times have been used to teach a man when a man was unwilling to be used or when he submitted himself under a woman's teaching. However there is a verse that says that a woman should not speak in church....
As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches.
1 Corinthians 14:34
The verse that I quoted to abair that talks about teaching or having authority does not say...in church....as the one above, but is referring to how a Godly woman should be.
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
1 Timothy 2:11-15

I read the verses that you put up, saying that they clearly said that a woman can "pray, prophesy, teach, bring a Psalm and minister to the rest of the Body of Christ in the informal fellowship meetings and whenever the occasion arises". However when I read them the only thing that those verses refer to are sharing scripture and hymns, praying and prophesy. None of them say anything about a woman teaching, ministering or anything like that. Yes, a woman can teach a woman, a woman can teach a child, but I will not go outside of scripture when it says that a woman cannot teach a man and it would be wrong of me to put myself in a position where I am doing so purposefully.

Jp, I hope that you see that I do not write these things to prove you wrong or teach you, but I feel I must defend what the word says, and since I began this thread I would feel that if anyone heard anything contradictory to the word and believed it... and if I did not show what the word does in fact say, that there misguidance would be on me.

with the Love of Christ,
Kate

I can see where you are coming from and I can agree to disagree with you on that, absolutely no problem...

However, I do forsee that you will run into problems (on CC) by holding the view that you have, as regards a woman (supposedly) not teaching a man, for be being on CC you are going to reply to posts that have been written by men (as you have done so with me)...

So how are you going to, as they say, square that circle?

I do hope you enjoy your time on CC.

Yahweh Shalom...

Because you wrote on here... I did not seek out your thread and try to teach you. I feel that in this my conscious is clear. I only am on here to speak with women. I do hope you see that and how that is what the word says and it can work and should be that way.

Hi Kate,
There's a forum for women only. So, if you'd like to discuss issues with women, you might post in there (just in case you have not been aware of that). Cheers!
