Where's 'the preacher' in those chapters? He is missing. What we call 'pastor' today cannot be found in those chapters. Funny how that doesn't seem to alarm anyone. But i'll keep on sounding the alarm. Like Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith goes to Washington filibustering when he said 'someone's got to hear me sometime'.
Actually, the pastor is mentioned specifically in Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers

The purpose of the apostles; prophets; evangelists; pastors and teachers is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry and to build up the body of Christ.

And in Rom 12:6-7, the one who teaches (Greek word didaskō – same word as "teacher" in Eph 4:11) is encouraged to utilize the gift according to the grace given.

As far as what I personally contributed? I do not believe it to be in my best interest to publicly proclaim what "I" did to bless the body of Christ. God knows and that is all that matters.

I cared for my dogs, checked in on my parents, and prayed for a few enemies, but Hillary wasn't one of them. I hope she stubs her right pinky toe.

In your open assembly meeting based on the NT, 1Cor. 12, Ephesians 4, and Romans 12?

Please share with us all how God used you this morning to the edification of the whole, Ephesian 4:16 where: '...the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which EVERY JOINT SUPPLIES (every member uses their function/gift) according to the effectual working in the measure of every part (every believer in the assembly) making increase (built up spiritually) of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.'

Oh boy. Now we can see why the appointed exalted one will never shift to the NT paradigm. He'll lose his job and salary. If everyone is doing the ministering we sure can't give paychecks to everyone.....can we? Knowwhatimean Vern?

So what did you share this morning to the edification of the whole? And don't say clapping your hands saying 'amen'. Smile.
I honestly have no idea if I've contributed anything edifying or not.

I do know that God in his faithfulness edified my spirit this morning in my kitchen by opening my eyes to I Corinthians chapter 2. I'm astonished meditating on it.

I went, and listened to our preacher discuss God's grace as being the only thing that can save us... that we can never be "good" enough to deserve it.

I also witnessed a grown man confessing his belief, and being baptized.

We also had a blessing for all the kids going into school for the first time tomorrow..... and I got to enjoy the fellowship of lots of other believers.

Paster is another word for elder. I know people misuse this word when they mean minister.

I bring others to church with me who get to hear the word, drove 32 miles trip. Heard an awesome message.
There are around 100 people whith different parts. Jesus said if we have not love then we are a clanging cymbal.
We are to do what the Lord puts on our hearts.

It is scary, the falling away from church these days. Put God first.
I just know what is preached at my church is very effective, Thank God.

it sounds like you are assuming that you have to 'share' something spoken in order to contribute to the church...

what about those who don't speak? what about babies? just dead weight?

Well, a brother in Christ, who was 56 and died unexpectedly Thursday, was honored, and his family was lifted up by the congregation in prayer, love, meals, one Pastor even went to her house and fixed her garbage disposal. Friday we will gather at the Church and mourn together, and celebrate his life, and his eternity with Jesus.
I praise and thank God for this congregation.

May God's love envelop and comfort those who lost their loved one and may the peace that passes all understanding guard their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. tears that flow so freely from our eyes when we lose our loved ones are a testimony to the one who has passed. will hold this family in prayer ...
