Cobus: Since I started my repentance from the sin in my life, I have had so many people tell me that I have the Holy Spirit in me. But is this true? Well, I have NEVER believed them. It cannot be true IF you do not believe. Something always told me that these people that say these words does not have the Holy Spirit in them either, and they have no clue as to what a person looks like when they have the Holy Spirit in him. LOOKS LIKE? Really? Like those of us that are filled with the Spirit should have some sort of neon light flashing from our eyes or heads???More importantly … what a person DOES when he have (has)the Holy Spirit in him! They do greater works than Jesus!
Now 14 years later and with a lot more Bible knowledge through many hours of quiet time WITH the Holy Spirit, I know why! If you think you have the Holy Spirit in you, and you want to be sure you know what you talk about, answer this question to yourself! “Do I receive EVERYTHING I ask of God?” If your answer is …NO! Beware!!!! If it is yes, I will say to you….. Oh blessed man of God this has realized in your life! What Bible are YOU reading? For the one I read says that a request of God MUST be within His will! If you ask WITHIN His will, His answer is "yes", but within His time frame. If you ask outside of His will, the answer, should you even get one, is "NO"

1 John 5:14
"And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.
I KNOW I do not have the Holy Spirit in me because I do not get all my prayers answered. SEE ABOVE I do not do greater works than Jesus. FYI... the 'greater' refers to the frequency of and the number of works, not better in glory or more magnificent, which shows you that your understanding of scripture is lacking. I know Jesus does not and cannot lie, but I also know MANY people lie when they say they have the Holy Spirit, and then they are as powerless as I in the works Jesus did. If you are powerless, then you are not born again; you are not the overcomer that you were created to be; you are NOT the CONQUORER that you were created to be either and so, again, you greatly lack understanding of His Word, His Character, and His mandates. Oh Satan sends them MANY pastors and false teachers to comfort them in their hopeless state, but even these pastors are as powerless in God’s work as I am. They also pray for many sick, and then that person remains sick. Jesus NEVER said to a lame person….. “Rise and walk!”… and that person remained lame. If I fail ONCE in prayer, I Fail the Holy Spirit test.
See these verses:
John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]"
Can you really have the One that has conquered ALL living withIN you and you NOT be conquerer yourself? Hardly!!

Romans 8:37 "Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us."
So you either believe His word, or not. IF you believe, you WILL DO HIS WORD and BE the conqueror you were created to be.

1 Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Here again, ALL BELIEVERS are CONQUERORS through the Lord Jesus. IF you are becoming defeated and consciously sinning, YOU ARE NOT BORN AGAIN AND your father is the devil. One canNOT be a CONQUEROR and live in defeat at the same time.

1 Peter 5:4 "And [then] when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror's crown of glory."
But not if you are living in defeat, allowing the enemy to have the best of you. You lose, big time. The 'knowledge' that you claimed to have gained over the years is tainted with deception and is affording you pride and hell. Hos. 4:6

1 John 5:4 "
For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith." Simple enough for all to understand!!

1 John 5:5 "Who is it that is victorious over [that conquers] the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on that fact]?"
Do you REALLY believe?

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
Are you able to hear and assimilate it into your life so that you can DO what the Spirit says to do?? To him who overcomes (conquers), I will give to eat of the manna that is hidden, and I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone, which no one knows or understands except he who receives it. This is deep: "To him who overcomes (conquers)" ...those that overcome RECEIVE spiritual FOOD/manna which is hidden from the eyes and understanding of natural man.

Revelation 3:5"Thus shall he who conquers (is victorious) be clad in white garments, and I will not erase or blot out his name from the Book of Life; I will acknowledge him [as Mine] and I will confess his name openly before My Father and before His angels."
A person that is victorious, a conquerer, does not purpose to sin; he/she purposes to DO the word of the Lord; has the character of the Lord; has the mind of Christ. Every TRUE Christian, true believer and follower of Christ, never refers to him/herself as anything less than a conquerer in and through Christ Jesus.

Revelation 5:5 "Then one of the elders [ of the heavenly Sanhedrin] said to me, Stop weeping! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root (Source) of David, has won (has overcome and conquered)!
HE IS IN US!!! We are to be nothing less that His earthly representatives, carrying on the works that He started. IF you do not understand this, you are lacking greatly....in your walk, in your IDENTITY."
Revelation 6:2 "And I looked, and saw there a white horse whose rider carried a bow. And a crown was given him, and he rode forth conquering and to conquer."
Revelation 12:11"And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]."

Are you beginning to understand who you are SUPPOSED TO BE now?
I am going to stop here, simply for the sake of space. But I will say these two things: 1~)Your profiles lists your "Spiritual Status" as "Unsure". Let me help you simplify it for you: Either you have Christ IN you and purpose to DO HIS WORD, and therefore are a Born Again Christian, or you are still lost and going to hell. 2~) You Do have a call of God on your life, which is to minister the Gospel. But you cannot effectively do so until you understand God's character and His written word. ASK the Holy Spirit for His WISDOM.

I need to share something, and I hope it will bring peace to one person! Only one please Lord!

My wife and I worked at the largest steel manufacturer in South Africa. One time she was transferred to a section where there was a man that I never saw do anything bad! He vever swore, he never spoke bad about anything, and he even never went to the "work parties".

That section won an safety award and they all went to the club to clebrate. The man did not go, so I walked to him to ask why he would not go! I just been "born again" and a "new Christian". I saw a bible in his office once, so I knew he was not part of a weird faith or sect.

I asked him... Do you believe in Jesus?,,, He said yes but I do not want to talk about it..... I asked why don't you want to join us?... He said it is against his faith! But he does not want to talk about it.... I was so confused but today I know 100% what that man was alla about. It is now 15 years later and I think tday he will talk to me.

You see fifteen years ago, I though I knew everything about God and His Word. And I HAD MANY ARGUMENTS to proof that I was quite a man in Christ. But boy was I wrong. You see that man knew EXACTLY if he had to start to talk to me about Jesus, I would have lured him into an argument. The exact same reason I do nnot come to CC any-more.

And the exact same rason why Jesus also was never drawn into arguments. The only difference is... todays argumenting candidates are faced with indoctrinated people! Exactly waht I was that day in Mr. V's office! I wouldhave liked the man to accept my doctrine before he change his mind and join us in the "party" .

My heart still convicts me today, but I have faith in Jesus to finish HIS WORK on me.

I would like to pray....
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

John 14:12 to 14… 12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
I think there's a litmus test we can do here. If the apostles and Paul - who all believed on Christ - all did greater works than Christ then there's no need to re-read this passage. Otherwise we will need to give it a more thorough treatment than just assuming people will be raised from the dead left and right and Paul didn't need to take a boat to Perga or anywhere else because he could've just walked on water. Not only that but he wouldn't need to work for money to eat; he could just multiply food. In fact he wouldn't even need to walk on water. He could just teleport around the world as Christ seemingly did in his latter days here when he would appear out of nowhere.

So how should we read John 14:12-14? Should we read it to mean that no one who believes on Christ has the Holy Spirit?

Hi, I'm actually off to bed but I was curious as to your topic, and sooned realized why.

This is the problem and wrong concept:
If you received everything you asked of God then the Holy Spirit is IN you.

First you forget it is not what God does for you, but you for God. The Holy Spirit aims to magnify God.

Second Jesus asked in the garden something and He didn't receive it. Does that make that the Holy Spirit wasn't in Him??

The concept is wrong. The concept you create is that God is the obedient servant or genie that fulfills your every wish, when it is supposed to be vice versa. God answer my prayers, but I assure you there are a lot of times He says no, or that He has a better or different idea and then I fall into His footsteps. Does the Holy Spirit live in me, yes for that is why I am a temple for Him to live in. Have I seen miracles happen through the grace of God by using me. All the time. Just the other day a man was so fervently healed by God that they noticed it on the xrays and confused the doctors. My wife was deaf and her ears were restored. To acknowledge that we are His temple is important. For it is His grace that uplifts us and our pride that destroys us.

God is our Father and we His children. A child cannot teach the adult. The child ask, and the adult decides whether or not it is good to give to the child. And with God you will always in relation be a child no matter how smart you become.
