Why do we have the privileges today that people in bible times did not have. This just food for thought. I mean God created us all equal. Today, we have cell phones, computers, television, cars. In bible days it took months for a message to reach it's recipient. It took days just to get to the nearest city. Now I can drive across America in three days and don't have to carry food and water, if I have the money. My question is why are we so blessed with these amenities that our forefathers did not have. We are no better than they were. Why has God chosen to give us these things in this time? I wonder.

In Genesis 1:28, humanity is given the command to subdue the earth and have dominion over it. Theologians call this the cultural mandate, where we are told to basically take the resources at hand and make great things out of them. This includes technologies, scientific discoveries, art, philosophy, culture, and so on. God didn't say "And now you shall have the wheel," "Now you shall have the transistor," and so on. God let us figure out on our own how to make things. And over several thousands of years we have learned more and more, resulting in us having better technology than they did during Jesus's time.

But it has only been a hundred years or so since we have had these things. I know that God told Daniel that in the last days knowledge would increase and people will be traveling to and fro. That is fulfilled. But, the hard physical labor these people endured. Can you imagine working a farm with out a tractor. Why has He blessed us with this knowledge and scientific ability that He has not blessed any other generation with. I mean even a dishwasher and washing machine and dryer, air conditioners. They are a blessing from the Lord. Why are we so more special than them. I'm trying to get my head around it. I hope the Lord will explain.

Well i think people in those times were more blessed to not have such things around them.. they had less temptation...they had the same temptations you know like lust greed ect. but we have it in more of an abundance now.. i mean go to la.. there are like 5 strip joints on one street...imagine being easily tempted by lust and you have no food in your appt.. so u have to go down that street to get something to eat and all you see is your temptation slapped in your face.. people then couldn't handle all of this and the Lord knew that .. that is why he chose us to be apart of earth in different times.. basing it on he knows his people .. he knows our hearts temptations and out breaking points.. long story short.. dont worry about it he knew what he was doing ;)

On the other hand technology has brought on a lot of personal alienation where any social interaction is through impersonal means. This can make for society to be run by govt. agencies rather than church and family
There seems to be pros and cons in each epoch of history.

So, have we been given these technological advances to preach the cross as never before. Could you Imagine if Paul had these? But we as humans have perverted this knowledge. I still ask the question, why us and why now. God could have given this to Abraham or David. Why hold back till now. Everything we have comes from God. Is it because after the cross He released knowledge. I don't know its just a question that bugs me.

Well u pretty much got it....knowledge will increase and traveling like wise...its funny Cuz 2 weeks ago I was telling someone the samething...why in the past 100 years or so are we just now developing the things we have? But humans have been around for thousands of years and never Modernized till now. What is different now then back then? The only thing I could think of was the end times, knowledge and travel will increase. Also the bible says men are inventors of evil things...so look at all we have. It all somehow can take our eyes off God and bring more attention to material things.this can lead to the great fall away as prophecied. Its truly the signs of the time and prophecy being fulfilled. The devil knows that his time is winding down and he will throw any idea or invention or temptation that will cause us to dedicate our time to it more than God. There's a lot to get caught up with in the world. Just my opinion here.

It kinda takes away all excuses for Not doing God's work and will. It also allows for God's word to be spread. but at the same time the enemy these things can be used for bad too.

This comes to mind, Christ said in Mark 13 that in the last days, There would be earth quakes in different places. We know maybe about these things because if modern communication . I can know when a earthquake hits any place on the earth in a instant.

we also have many spiritual earth quakes happening . we need to be ready for.we must learn the Bible all of it.

I don't think those things are blessings. Nor from God. They are our own curses.
Think of all the people that do whatever it takes to get the latest cell phone, new cars every so often, etc.

Pay your bills, pay your bills, pay your bills, spend what's left on entertainment.
But don't hand a 20 to the scruffy guy on the corner, because he might be a boozer.
And no matter what, when the thought occurs to circle around and give it to him, dismiss it because of traffic.
He remains hungry. He's never welcome in our house because he might steal a cell phone.
Those things are slavery. Few people use them as a blessing to help others in the name of Jesus.
Still not a curse? Look at what has happened to nature as a result.
