Joi,

It certainly not something anyone needs to know; and more than enough to satisfy someone's curiosity.

CTC1989 asked for background on the Corinthian epistles; and McClintock & Strong are both sound and thorough.

I figured that if he has more than he wants it is better than less than he needs.

Well...the Corinthian church had some 14-15 things wrong with it...it was a spiritually immature church and Paul writes unto the church at Corinth to correct their error.....some of the sexual sins of the Corinthian church are so grievous that even the unbelievers did not sink to such sins......Paul expected the church to come online as a mature church within three years of the first letter and lest we forget...even though they had all of the error they are still acknowledged as a true N.T. church and make the bible as such.......!
thanks dcontroversal, that's the kind of background that really helps, it helps me have a picture in my mind when I'm going into my reading, otherwise I have a hard time comprehending what's going on. I never attended Sunday school or anything like that so I'm not as familiar with what's going on in some of the chapters. I'm sure people who were brought up reading the bible and doing bible study find it much easier, but at least I'm trying.

Thanks to everyone else who sent me other great background. As long as I can picture something in my head I'm usually able to understand the story, if I can't picture it, it's very very hard for me to follow.

Thanks also to everyone who helped me out, there was a bunch of good information that I wouldn't have known. Expecially the dates of when things took place, I'm not sure if there's anywhere in the bible that says the approximate dates of when things were written, but on my iPad version it's basicly just chapter and verse, no additional information like the paperback versions of the bible that I've seen.
