Okay so i often think about Job every time i go through some kind of suffering. he is truly a man who's loyalty is to God. above all else even with all the pain and loss he trusted the lord still. Sure he came pretty close to being rude to god but even so he put his faith in the lord still. it was his story that made me decide that one day I will be the same.

Yet even though I know the answer deep inside I ask myself: What made job so strong? was it merely his relationship with the lord? is it because he looks back on all God did for him?

I think Job's faith was the most important thing for him. He believed God! Even if he did not have the full picture of God, which God reveals in the closing chapters.

"Though he slay me, I will hope in him;
yet I will argue my ways to his face.." Job 13:15

I think the big question we need to ask when reading Job, is "How often are we like Job's friends?

I had my foot reconstructed in 2009, and God told me to re-read Job. That man was my best friend, as I suffered in terrible pain. I love the book, because it shows that God is totally in control. Job was considered righteous and God even showed him to Satan.

"And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” " Job 1:8

Yet Job never gave up on God, despite losing everything, including his health, which can be one of the worst experiences you can have. Yet, it really comes back to Job's faith in God:

"For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth" Job 19:25.

I have a lot of really good books that go deeply into the whole book if you want the names, just ask!

What made Job special was that he was never double minded.

It was God who suggest that Job was a special person. I'm sure God knew what Satan would do. Job merited his test with the depth of his walk.

I side with Job's wife... although her stance may be considered cowardly by some, she has just lost all her children, her home, her livelihood and now (it appeared) her husband to a terrible plague...

I agree. It took resolute faith to deal with what he had to go through. I also think the story of Job is a good reminder to folks that God controls Satan.

Before I went offline last night, everybody was worried about whether you made it through the storm. I'm glad to see you did, bro. God bless you.

Job trusted God, even in that trust it's due to note, Job did 'wish he's perished at birth,' (Job 3 tells of this truth) as his humanity took over thoughts, but, through it all, He still never sinned from the ordeal and torturous verbal treatment of his three friends , Job stayed true to God, blainers :)

Job 1 :

20At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21and said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.[SUP]c[/SUP]
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;

may the name of the Lord be praised.”

Job 2:

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” 10He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[SUP]b[/SUP] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

What faith and strength job had Huh? Also such wisdom: Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
If we were to allow these words right here to melt into our hearts, perhaps then we would praise god and trust still even in the darkest hours.

Everyone kept telling him he was being punished for sinning but he knew he was living an upright and righteous life. Superman is not the man of steel, Job is.

God controls the Devils actions by putting a restraint on him, however, God does not control the Devils will...Job 1v12, 2v6, 2Thess 2v7

A few points to consider, against God Satan has absolutely no power. No evil being, demon or man can do anything other than what God permits. 2Chron 18v18-22, Job 1v12, Matt 8v31, Psalm 76v10. Satan is wholly a tool in the hands of God to punish the wicked, to correct the righteous, 1Tim 1v20, 1Cor 5v5, to bring glory to the Sons of God, Eph 6v10-20, Job 1 and 2, James 1v12, to test the true character of everyone. Rev 20v7,10, Matt 4v1. Against us Satan only has the power that is given to him by God. Job 1 all. Against God he is helpless. Rev 20v1-3....

Job was a good and faithful man in many ways, but God wanted him to see some things about himself, I reckon.

Like the Great and Loving Father He is, it seems God also put Job through these trials to show him his sins.

Job keeps asserting his own innocence and uprightness, yet at the end of the book God shows him he has been prideful and self righteous. When confronted with the Words of God, Job sees his sin and repents.

I think God also wanted Job (and us) to see His sovereignty and accept it gladly.

Job 42

1) Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

2) “I know that Thou canst do all things,
And that no purpose of Thine can be thwarted.

3) ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
“Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”

4) ‘Hear, now, and I will speak;
I will ask Thee, and do Thou instruct me.’

5) “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear;
But now my eye sees Thee;

6) Therefore I retract,
And I repent in dust and ashes.”

A wonderful conclusion, and a lesson to me! :)

The purpose of Job's trial was to perfect his faith, patience and character... Rom 5v1-5, James 1v2-4,12

Job was Gods friend and simply believed him. Think about this... Jobs three friends ( the fourth I think was Satan himself) basic argument was that Job would not admit his sin ,Because he was suffering he had to be sinning and that if he would just repent god would forgive him (simplified). Job said he did not sin but was a imperfect man.I think Job is all a big prophesy of Jesus. Lost all he had, lost his family, lost his honor lost his friends, lost his health and greatest of all was that he was suffering for sin that he did not commit. Does this sound like say...Jesus. Even the conversation that goes on is prophetic. It is just a big picture of the word made flesh.Read it with this in mind and you will see it's about Jesus . My youngest sons name is Job. My mother hated it>
